2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX RECALL - #07V344000

RECALL FOR AIR BAGS : FRONTAL : SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE

CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION." IN THESE VEHICLES, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BUILT WITH A PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM. WHEN TESTED WITH A REPRESENTATIVE UNRESTRAINED SMALL ADULT, THE SYSTEM IS REQUIRED TO TURN THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG ON. AN ERROR IN THE SEAT SENSOR CALIBRATION CAN CAUSE IT TO FAIL THIS TEST. IN ADDITION, THIS CONDITION CAN PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM TURNING OFF WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED BY A SMALL CHILD.

Description CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO.
Consequences WHENEVER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED, THE DRIVER SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK THE AIRBAG INDICATOR TO SEE IF THE AIRBAG IS ON OR OFF. IF IT IS NOT CORRECT FOR THE SITUATION, THE PASSENGER SHOULD BE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT SEAT. THIS CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO A SEAT OCCUPANT DURING CERTAIN CRASH CONDITIONS.
Corrective action DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE SEAT'S ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668.

I have a 2007 Equinox, my passenger air bag light goes on and off randomly. Even with an adult in the front seat. I took it to the Chevy dealership and they stated my vin was not under the recall 07V344000 (AIR BAGS! I agree why should some vins be recalled while others with the same problems are not.Who are they to say that a number comes before the safety of any family.

2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX RECALL - #07V520000 I took my vehicle to dealer who stated the my vehicle was not on the recall for this. They did replace the gas fuel line under the recall. The passenger light goes on and off intermittently with a passenger as does the warning light on the speedometer panel. I feel the airbags will fail we needed. I have been reading plenty of complaints on this issue and feel all 2007 Equinox's should be covered for the faulty airbag issues for the safety of the owners.

I HAVE A 2007 EQUINOX THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE FUEL LEAK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE FIXED AND AFTER I FOUND OUT THE PRICE I HAD TO GO BACK HOME WITH MY LEAKY GAS SMELL. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE 2007 EQUINOX SOLD IN TEXAS WAS UNDER RECALL BUT NOT MINE. WHY NOT MINE? IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE.. IT HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT. IT SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO ME AND I AM VERY AGGRAVATED BY THIS BUT ANYONE I CALL AT GM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT AND CAN NOT HELP ME OR TRANSFER ME TO SOMEONE TO HELP ME.... VERY FRUSTRATING..

The service brake system light comes on intermittently. And sometimes not at all. The service engine light does the same. and the front passenger airbag sensor doesn't even register me in the seat.

Everything was ok until a week ago when I took my truck for a 51.000 service to the dealer that I bought it from, the truck present an excitation when you hit the gas pedal is been in there for a week and nobody can't figure out what is the problem. I had that truck for just 5 months I bought it with 42500 miles and never had any problem with it.

Do you drive a 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
