2004 DODGE DURANGO RECALL - #17V824000

RECALL FOR EQUIPMENT

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

i bought my 04 durango in 08 still running strong as can be and i have most def pushed this vehicle beyond its limits and havnt had to replace a single thing. its been offroad, burried hood deep in water and mud and still runs like it did on day one. best vehicle i have ever driven an i also get the same response from people who ride in it.

I own a 2004 Dodge Durango..bought it new and it's still going strong. I've never had any problems with it.! And I mean NEVER. It has always started in any kind of weather and is the BEST vehicle I have ever driven. It is reliable, dependable, great on winding country roads, it really has had no start up issues of any kind. I've never had to replace one thing on it since day one. I have 76,000 miles on it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It still drives like new and other people who ride in it with me are really impressed with the ride. Lots of space, the radio sounds great and I've even towed a FEMA trailer behind it, around 8500 lbs. with ease up mountainous roads in Texas. The gas mileage is actually better NOW than when it was new!! I get about 16 miles to the gallon in the city. Cruise control works fantastic and it is truly a joy to drive.

Just purchased a used 04 Durango SLT Hemi. No problems so far. Just lousy mileage. I am covered for 3yrs/36,000 miles - just pray with me that I will get from under this one in one piece. These comments are very disheartening. Wish I would have read them before I signed on the dotted line. I hope and pray Chrysler will do what is right for all of us when and if we have mechanical problems.

Do you drive a 2004 DODGE DURANGO?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
