8/25/2012 - Mark A. Sadolf
8-25-12.........I have a 1996 Dodge Ram Club Cab truck, which I have had for about 3 to 4 years. I appear to have a fuel leak, only when the tank is filled. The leak appears to be from the top of the tank, but I am unsure. Fuel leaks onto the ground. I did some research, I found a recall for this issue. The recall number is #97V199000. It appears my leak is the same as the recall listed. I called and spoke with a Chrysler rep., at # 1-800-992-1997. I was told that the recall number is VIN number specific, and that after telling the rep. the VIN , I was told my truck VIN was not affected. I am not sure I agree with the statement given to me. I will research this more and make repairs as required.

Do you drive a 1996 DODGE RAM?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
