My wife drives our 2006 Jeep Commander. Two days ago the engine shut off twice without warning. It's happened a number of times before, even when I've driven it. The shut-off happens at varying speeds and circumstances, but is ALWAYS A PROBLEM. We've not been notified of the recall, I've found it on numerous websites this week. We have 2 small children that ride with her daily. I'll be contacting Chrysler and the NTSB as soon as I get the VIN # from her vehicle today.

I currently own a 2006 Commander. Just recently the vehicle has started to do exactly what the recall has stated that it will do. The dash components will go from on to off and then back on. The warning lights will all come on and then off again without warning. The fan motor for the heater and air will cut in and out in unison with all the indicator lights. Right now it is only the lights but at some time the ignition is going to shut off leaving myself or my wife in a scary situation with no steering or brakes to safely get on the side of the road.
It is November 19 2014 and there is still no corrective actions for these vehicles to be repaired. It seems it will only be a matter of time before this recall becomes a serious threat to safety and health of my family and I would like for someone to have an answer about this since the recall stated Chrysler will notify customers in September.

I'm having front seat belt issues in my 2006 Jeep Commander. I have to hold down the red button in order and then insert seat belt. My seat belt light stays on and continues to chime through out my travel.

Having front seat belt issues. They both don't lock properly. I have to hold down the red release button to lock them and now the computer does not reconize them as being locked and the seat belt warning light stays on and it chumes all the time and does not stop. Is there a recall for this because I see a lot of complaints for this issue. Is there an easy fix for this and can it be turned off. Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Do you drive a 2006 JEEP COMMANDER?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
