THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 CHEVROLET C1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN MY 1998 CHEVY TRUCK, MY BRAKES SOMETIMES GO TO THE FLOOR WITH A PULSATING FEELING WHEN EPISODE IS HAPPENING. THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP, AND I'VE BUMPED MY GARAGE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IM AFRAID THERE WILL BE A ACCIDENT SOMEDAY WHEN IM IN TRAFFIC.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: FOUNDATION COMPONENTS: MASTER CYLINDER

3/5/2008 - HEMPSTEAD , TX
TL CONTACT OWNS A 1998 CHEVROLET C1500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-50 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE PEDAL POPPED BACK UP. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000. UPDATED 7/3/08 THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. UPDATED

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: ANTI-THEFT CONTROLLER

5/10/2007 - CHOCTAW, OK
1998 CHEVORLET SILVERADO C1500 PICKUP FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY. PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE GM PASS LOCK II SYSTEM. PROBLEM STARTED 1.5 YEARS AGO AND HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT. I TALKED WITH THE LOCAL GM REPAIR FACILITY , AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $200 - $6OO TO TROUBLESHOOT. REPLACEMENT PARTS WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL COST. ALSO, THEY STATED THAT GM WAS AWARE OF AN OCCASIONAL MALFUNCTION WITH THE PASS LOCK II SYSTEM, BUT GM DIDN'T THINK THERE WAS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENED WITHOUT NOTICE, AND SOMETIMES IT TOOK ANYWHERE FROM A FEW MINUTES TO SEVERAL HOURS FOR THE MALFUNCTION TO CORRECT ITSELF TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD START THE TRUCK. I HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS RELATED TO THE PASS LOCK II SYSTEM, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. GM OFFERED NO HELP.

HAVE 1998 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CLUB CAB PICKUP TRUCK. WHEN SLOWING TO STOP, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS AND THE BRAKES PROHIBIT THE TRUCK FROM COMING TO A STOP IN TIME. HAVE READ OF INVESTIGATION WITH ABS BRAKES ON OTHER YEARS. THE 1998 IS NO DIFFERENT. I'VE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS AND MUCH DIFFICULTY IN GETTING SOME ANSWERS AS TO WHY WERE OTHER YEARS RECALLED AND NOT THE 1998. IT IS DOING THE SAME THING OTHER MODELS HAVE A HISTORY OF DOING.

THE EVENT WAS A CRASH OF MY 1998 CHEVROLET SILVERADO P/U. THE CRASH WAS A FORWARD MOVING IMPACT TO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH A SPEED OF 40 MPH. AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE RESULTS WAS THE DRIVER IMPACTED THE STEERING WHEEL AS OF TODAY ONLY MINOR PAIN AND BRUISES ARE EVIDENT. THE IS THE FIRST FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM I KNOW OF. I HAVE TRIED TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAG FORM A 1995 BUICK AND IT DIDN'T FIRE ALSO, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS SYSTEM. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF THE DRIVER.
