Complaint - Exterior Lighting

I WAS DRIVING MONTE CARLO SS 2000 THE OTHER DAY AND SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I INHALED A MOUTHFUL, THE THROAT BURNED ALL DAY. ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED RUNNING AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF, SO I REMOVED THE FUSE. I NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS NO LONGER WORKED ALSO. WHEN I GOT HOME I OPENED THE DASHBOARD AND STEERING WHEEL COVER , AND THE BURNT SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. I OPENED THE SWITCH, AND EVERYTHING INSIDE WAS MELTED. I NOTIFIED GENERAL MOTORS RIGHT AWAY. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER , SO I DID. BUT THE GM DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE A $100 TO DIAGNOSE. NONE OF THE FUSES ON THE CAR BLEW OUT WHEN THE SWITCH STARTED ON FIRE. I FOUND A USED SWITCH FOR $85.00 SO IT COST LESS THE DEALER TO TELL ME IT WAS BAD. IT WAS A FAULTY SWITCH , AND GM TOLD ME I COULD ONLY HAVE A GM DEALER FIX IT. I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT JUSTIFY OR AFFORD PAYING MORE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS THAN THE USED PART. GM TOLD ME I COULD NOT PUT A NEW SWITCH IN MYSELF OR I WON'T BE REIMBURSED IF THERE WAS A RECALL. THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. GM WON'T HELP ME OUT ANYWAY AND THEY DIDN'T REALLY SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. SO I EITHER GO TO THE DEALER AND PAY $500 TO GET IT FIXED OR PAY $85 AND DO MYSELF. THEY PUT ME IN A SITUATION SO THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM I WOULD SEND THE SWITCH TO THEM, BUT THEY DIDN'T WANT IT. NEITHER COULD I HAVE ANOTHER MECHANIC REPLACE IT EXCEPT FOR GM. THIS WAS REDICULOUS. SOMEONEWAS GOING TO GET KILLED IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN.

Now lower prices on ALL K&N products. Save up to 15% / $85.
