YOU HAVE ADDRESSED YOUR SAFETY QUERY TO A MEMBER OF THE STAFF OF THE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY INSTITUTE. TSI, THE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY INSTITUTE, IS A TRAINING AGENCY. WE HAVE NO REGULATORY OR RESEARCH AUTHORITY. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU ADDRESS YOUR AUTO SAFETY ISSUE TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION OF THE US DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AS THE FEDERAL AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR AUTOMOTIVE SAFETY REGULATION. THEIR WEB SITE IS WWW.NHTSA.DOT.GOV. VERNON L. WITH, MANAGER HIGHWAY SAFETY DIVISION TRANSPORTATION SAFETY INSTITUTE -----ORIGINAL MESSAGE----- FROM: SAMUALLA PRY [MAILTO:[email protected]] SENT: WEDNESDAY, JULY 30, 2003 3:35 PM TO: WITH, VERN SUBJECT: MY VEHICLE- 2003 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MR. VERN, I AM HAVING SOME TROUBLE WITH COMMUNICATING WITH THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION IN REGARDS TO MY NEW VEHICLE. THE PASSENGERS FRONT SEAT SITS VERY HIGH AND MAY BE HAZARDOUS WHEN ENTERING AND LEAVING THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. THE DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" ALTHOUGH ANOTHER DEALER STATES IT APPEARS THAT THERE HAS BEEN A MIXING OF THE SEAT MOUNTS TO THE FLOOR OF THE VAN FOR THE DIFFERENT SEATS (POWER SIX WAY SEATS, POWER FOUR WAY SEATS, AND MANUAL). IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT A PERSON COULD SUFFER SEVERE HEAD TRAUMA BECAUSE THEIR HEAD WOULD STRIKE THE TOP OF THE DOOR FRAME/ ROOF OF THE VAN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE IN REGARDS TO AN ACCIDENT AND THE PASSENGERS DOOR AREA. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ME IN REGARDS TO THIS. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH MY VAN, OR A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM WITH 2003 TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS WITH POWER SEATS AND SAFETY ISSUES. SINCERELY, SAMUALLA L.
