11/3/2014 - EAST LOUIS , IL
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 PONTIAC GRAND AM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A GARAGE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BACK PAIN AND LACERATIONS TO THE ARM, CHEST AND FACE AREA WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN CIRCUIT IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND LOCK CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,072.

THE CONTACT OWNED A 2003 PONTIAC GRAND AM. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH, A TRAIN CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND OIL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT PASSENGER AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND CHEST INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIR BAG WAS RECEIVED AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DEEMED TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
