THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATION UP TO 7,000 RPMS. THE CONTACT QUICKLY APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE HIGH ENGINE RPMS CONTINUED AS THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
