PURCHASED MY VAN USED IN 2012. IT HAD A STEERING ISSUE BUT I WAS NEW TO THE FEEL OF HONDA HANDLING AND THOUGHT IT WAS OK AND NORMAL. I HAVE HAD INCREASING ISSUES WITH MY CAPABILITY TO STEER. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RESERVOIR BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF MY VAN DID NOT HAVE IT SERVICED. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID IT IS PASSED WARRANTY AND CANNOT ABSORB THE COST OF THE REPAIR. I SAY, THAT SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER FIXED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, IT SHOULD BE FIXED NOW BECAUSE HONDA NEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM WHILE THE TIME FRAME STILL OBLIGATED THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY STEERING MY VAN, TURNING THE VAN, WITH CHILDREN IN IT, AND SO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS ATTENTION BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ADDRESSED AND FIXED WHEN HONDA SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RANDOM FAILURE THAT PROGRESSED CONCERNING THE POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE SHOOK EXCESSIVELY EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE PERFORMED EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC REMEDY TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED NO SPECIFIC RECOMMENDED REPAIR SOLUTION TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,607.

DRIVING THROUGH A LOCAL PARK WITH 3 SPEED TABLES, AFTER CROSSING THE 3RD TABLE I HEARD A CLUNK FROM THE ENGINE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, LOST THE POWER STEERING AND THE CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO KEEP DRIVING AS THERE WAS NO SAFE PLACE TO STOP. I DROVE SLOWLY WITHOUT POWER STEERING, THE CLUNKING CONTUNIED UNTIL SOMETHING BROKE FREE AND I NOTED IT'S LOCATION ON THE ROAD IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK TO THE PLACE WITHIN 30 MINS SO THE PART WAS STILL THERE. IT WAS A METAL RING WITH GROOVES ON THE OUTSIDE, LOOKED LIKE A BELT WENT ON IT. I GOT IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THE HARMONIC BALANCER WAS GONE AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND LOOSING STEERING IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE, AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BY HONDA.

IN ADDITION, THE BOLTS FRACTURED ASSOCIATED WITH THE SUSPENSION PULLEYS MORE THAN TWICE CAUSING A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED MORE THAN ONCE AND TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC A THIRD TIME, WHO REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT, THE BOLTS AND THE PULLEYS. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CHECKED WITH THE MANUFACTURER ON THE OEM PARTS THAT HAD BEEN ORDERED AND THEY STATED THAT THE BOLTS WERE NEWLY DESIGNED BUT PROVIDED NO RESOLUTION ON WHY THE BOLTS PREMATURELY FRACTURED THREE TIMES. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V039000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I INFORMED HONDA BECAUSE DOORS ARE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIRS. SUMMER OF 2014 THERE'S A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP AND THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT BECAUSE THE DOORS ARE STUCK CLOSED THEY CANNOT REPAIR THE RECALL. HOWEVER THE SERVICE ADVISOR OPENED THE SLIDING DOORS AND STILL THEN THEY REFUSE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL. I CONTACTED HONDA'S MANUFACTURER AND PER THE CASE MANAGER AT CORPORATE OFFICE," HONDA CANNOT HELP ME THE RECALL." I RECENTLY LEARNED THAT ON SEPTEMBER OF 2011 THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE STEERING. I INFORMED THE CASE MANAGER THAT I NEVER RECEIVED SUCH NOTICE. HER RESPONSE WAS "PERHAPS THE NOTICE WAS MAILED TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER, BECAUSE WE GO BY THE ADDRESS NOTED AT THE DMV OFFICE."; SEPTEMBER OF 2011 THE VEHICLE WAS REGISTERED UNDER MY NAME AND ADDRESS, THE CASE MANAGER DID NOT HAVE A RESPONSE FOR ME. FUEL PUMP RECALL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.

THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT WENT BAD CAUSING A TERRIBLE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL DUE TO THE ENGINE BANGING AROUND. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT WAS ONLY ADDED TO THIS VEHICLE AFTER HONDA DECIDED TO COME OUT WITH THE ECO FEATURE. THE VCM ENGINE CUTS OUT CYLINDERS WHEN THEY ARE NOT NEEDED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO VIBRATE SO A REAR MOTOR MOUNT WAS ADDED TO DECREASE THE VIBRATION. THE MOTOR MOUNT IS AROUND $500 PLUS THE COST OF LABOR TO REPAIR. I DON'T HAVE THE $700 NEEDED TO REPAIR MY VAN SO I WILL BE DOUBLE FISTING THE STEERING WHEEL UNTIL THE REMAINING MOUNTS FAIL CAUSING MY ENGINE TO FALL OUT. HOPEFULLY NO ONE WILL BE INJURED DURING THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE ACCORDING TO AMERICAN HONDA.

THE CAR HAS LESS THEN 100000 MILES ON IT AND YET HONDA IS FAILING TO FIX THE STEERING PUMP THAT THEY SAID THEY WERE EXTENDING A 100000 MILE WARRANTY ON. THE PUMPS ARE ALL LEMONS AND JUST CONTINUE TO FAIL ONE AFTER ANOTHER. ITS RIDICULOUS THAT 4 PUMPS HAVE FAILED ON THE SAME CAR OVER A FEW YEARS. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS SOMETHING MORE TO THIS THEN A STEERING PUMP.

WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, MY WIFE NOTICED SEVERE SHAKING OF STEERING WHEEL WHEN ACCELERATING AT 65 MPH. VEHICLE TAKEN TO SHOP, HAD VEHICLE INSPECTED: USUAL TIRE ROTATION, ALIGNMENT, BALANCING PERFORMED; HOWEVER PROBLEM PERSISTED, AND REPLACED TWO NEW TIRES. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO SAME SHOP, ALIGNMENT AND BALANCING RE-DONE; HOWEVER, PROBLEM PERSISTED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DIFFERENT SHOP--PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES, AND HAD ALIGNMENT AND BALANCING PERFORMED ONCE AGAIN; HOWEVER, PROBLEM PERSISTED. HAD TIRES REPLACED AND ALIGNMENT AND BALANCING PERFORMED YET AGAIN; HOWEVER, PROBLEM PERSISTS. ADVISED BY SHOP MANAGER THAT HE IS 95% SURE BASED ON DRIVING TEST THAT MOTOR MOUNTS ARE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE PREMATURELY FAILING, AND THUS DEEMED TO BE FAULTY, AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED BY HONDA A THEIR EXPENSE. TOO MANY OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUE, AND EXPENSIVE REPAIRS.

ALL THE DUST WAS EVENLY THERE ALL OVER THE MASTER CYLINDER: ALL OVER THE BONNET. I FEEL NO CHANGE WITH THE FRICTION NOISE FROM THE BRAKES: " A LITTLE WORSE?" HOW DO I ENSURE THAT A GENUINE SERVICE WAS DONE? NOW I FEEL INSECURE TO DRIVE ON THIS, LIKE DRIVING ON BLACK ICES. THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM WAS REST LAST TIME, BUT NOT IT IS BACK TO NOT WORKING GOOD: RESULTING WITH TROUBLE WITH THE A/C KNOB NOT WORKING SMOOTHLY.

I HAVE OWNED MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING SINCE IT WAS NEW. I REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AT 34K MILES. I HAVE PUT 3 SETS OF TIRES ON MY MINIVAN EVEN THOUGH I ROTATE EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE. ALL DONE BY THE DEALER. MY VAN WILL LOOSE STEERING AT TIMES WHEN IT IS COLD AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WILL SHAKE WHEN DRIVING AS WELL AS WHEN BRAKING. I JUST REPLACED THE TIRES WHICH INCLUDED A FRONT-END ALIGNMENT AND TIRE BALANCE. THE SHIMMY, VIBRATION AND SHAKING BACK/FORTH IS STILL THERE. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY DEALER AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH MY ODYSSEY. THE WATER PUMP STARTED AT 15K MILES AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT BACK THEY DID NOT KNOW THE ISSUE AND CHANGED THE WATER PUMP AT 34K MILES. THE TIRE SHAKING, VIBRATING AND SHIMMY HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 55K MILES AND THE VAN NOW HAS 105K. I AM TIRED OF THE PROBLEM. IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT I DON'T WAN TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO FAIL. THIS IS A HONDA AND IS SUPPOSE TO LAST. HONDA NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THIS PROBLEM. HONDA ODYSSEY 2005 POWER STEERING PROBLEM: POWER STEERING FAILS TO WORK AT RANDOM TIMES. IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKING OR TURNING AT SLOWER SPEEDS. IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES AND WHEN CAUGHT OFF GUARD MAKES IT FRIGHTENING AND PHYSICALLY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. HONDA HAS RECOGNIZED THIS IS A PROBLEM IN THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN 07-005 FROM AUGUST 21, 2009 WHICH INCLUDES OUR MODEL YEAR. HOWEVER, HONDA IS REFUSING TO COVER THE $700 EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND ACCESSORIES BECAUSE WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM IS WE HAD SYMPTOMS THEY DESCRIBE SINCE WE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE BEGINNING BUT THEY NEVER COULD 'REPLICATE' WHAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING. THE FAULTY TUBING THEY USED IN THE SYSTEM ACTUALLY HAS RUINED THE PUMP OVER THE YEARS. HAD THEY RECOGNIZED THIS PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY WE MAY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SALVAGE THE PUMP, BUT WE DID GET AN ESTIMATE AND HAVE SOMEONE LOOK AT THE PUMP AND THEY ADMITTED IT WAS NEEDING REPLACEMENT. WE USE THIS VEHICLE TO DRIVE OUR FAMILY AND ALTHOUGH IT GENERALLY HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS, THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE SITUATIONS WHERE WE HAVE ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AS WE WERE TURNING AND OUR CAR STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE TURN WE WERE MAKING. EVERYONE I TALK TO THAT HAS THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA KNOWS THEY PUT IN FAULTY TUBING WHICH DEGRADED TO MAKE LITTLE PIECES LOOSE IN THE FLUID WHICH THEN RUINED THE PUMP.
