IF SIDE SLIDING DOORS ARE CLOSED ELECTRICALLY THEY CAN NOT BE OPENED UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION IS IN "PARK" OR "NEUTRAL WITH BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED". IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS WHERE THE DRIVER IS INCAPACITATED AND CANNOT MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO THE PARK OR NEUTRAL POSITION , THE DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY SINCE THEY ARE HELD CLOSED BY THE ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY WHICH OPERATES THEM. EVEN IF THE DRIVER IS NOT INCAPACITATED HE/SHE MUST HAVE THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO THE APPROPRIATE POSITION BEFORE THE SLIDING DOORS CAN BE OPENED. TO NOT HAVE A MANUAL DOOR OVER RIDE PREVENTS THE REAR PASSENGERS FROM EMERGENCY EGRESS! I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT AND SHOULD EITHER BE CORRECTED OR A WARNING SHOULD BE PLAINLY VISIBLE TO THE DRIVER TO "DISABLE THE ELECTRICAL DOOR SYSTEM IF PASSENGERS ARE IN THE REAR SEATS".
