APPROACHING A PARKING LOT GATE SLOWLY WITH MY FOOT GENTLY ON THE BRAKE. ENGINE SUDDENLY SURGED TO FULL POWER. I'M A 250 LB. MALE AND APPLIED BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET AND COULDN'T STOP VEHICLE. HIT THE GATE ARM CAUSING LITTLE DAMAGE (INCONSEQUENTIAL). FINALLY STOPPED AND ENGINE RETURNED TO IDLE WHEN I MANAGED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL.

WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, I EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION OF MY 2009 MAXIMA. I HIT A LIGHT POLE DAMAGING THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER I EXPERIENCED THE SAME TYPE OF ACCELERATION, BUT I REACTED IN TIME BY USING MY BRAKES.
