WE HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS AND/OR ROTORS THREE TIMES IN 70,000 MILES. THE LAST BRAKE JOB REQUIRED REPLACING THE REAR CALIPER, ALONG WITH THE ROTORS AND PADS - WHICH WAS VERY COSTLY. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THIS WAS FAIRLY COMMON, WITH THIS CAR. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WITH THIS VEHICLE, IS THE BRAKES. THEY ARE SIMPLY TERRIBLE. DODGE REALLY NEEDS TO FIX THIS MISTAKE.

WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 12,000 MILES ON THIS CAR. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH ONLY APPROXIMATELY 18,000 MILES ON IT AND AT APPROXIMATELY 19,000 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR WORN OUT PADS AND WARPED ROTORS. TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALER TO SEE WHY THE BRAKES WORE OUT SO EARLY AND THEY SAID IT HAD NON-MOPAR BRAKE PADS ON IT SO IT VOIDED THE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR US. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000 MILES ON IT NOW AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS 3 TIMES FOR WORN OUT PADS AND WARPED ROTORS AND THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ONCE AT 40,000 MILES FOR THE SAME. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE GO THRU BRAKES LIKE THIS ONE. THE BRAKES ARE UNDERSIZED FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND DODGE KNOWS IT BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, THAT IS NOT RIGHT! WHEN THE BRAKES WEAR OUT THIS QUICKLY WITH NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THERE IS A PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS POORLY DESIGNED BRAKE SYSTEM.

I EXPERIENCED SHAKING/PULSATIONS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP (THE FASTER I WAS GOING BEFORE DECLINE IN SPEED, THE LARGER THE SHAKING/PULSATION WOULD BE). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE CALIPERS ON THE FRONT WHEELS WERE STICKING AND THAT THE PISTONS WERE GETTING HOT AND WOULD EVENTUALLY CRACK. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 15K MILES ON IT.

THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE TO STOP THE SHAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ROTORS AND PADS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

I TOOK IT IN TO MACHAIK DODGE, THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS STATING THEY WERE WARPED. THEY SAID NOTHING ABOUT IT BEING A SAFETY RECALL. WHICH IT STILL ISN'T. I FINALLY RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER 2 MONTHS AFTER IT BEING FIXED THE FIRST TIMER. NOW AT 35,000 MILES, I NEED BRAKE PADS. I TOOK IT BACK TO MACHAIK TODAY 1/27/2012, THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS FOR A $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. MY PROBLEM IS ALL THE COMPLAINTS PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE BRAKE PADS AND HAVING TO REPLACE THEM EVERY 15-25,000 MILES.

THE TRANSMISSION HITS VERY HARD ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE FROM ANY OTHER STICK POSITION THIS IS CAUSING TRANSMISSION DAMAGE CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM THE DEALER SHOP MARK DODGE SHOWED ME AN EMAIL THEY GOT BACK FROM CHRYSLER AFTER THE SHOP FOREMAN NOTED THIS DEFECT WAS HAPPENING AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT WHAT TO DO. THE RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER WAS " [XXX] THIS HAS BEEN NOTED IN SEVERAL PRIOR CASES . AT THIS TIME IT IS CONSIDERED CHARACTERISTIC- [XXX] " SO A TRANSMISSION BANGING INTO GEAR IS CHARACTERISTIC. I READ ONLINE AFTER THE PROBLEM STARTED AND DODGE HAS 2 LAWSUITS AGAINST THEM FOR INADEQUATE BRAKES IN THE DODGE JOURNEY. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF COMPLAINING, THE DEALER FINALLY CONFIRMED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS. THEY DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE OUT OF SPECIFICATION. THEY CUT THE FRONT ROTORS AND RESURFACED THE REAR ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM SUBSIDED FOR A WHILE, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRYSLER STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM IF THE CONSUMER PAID A WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE OF $100. THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED IN JUNE 2011. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER WHICH STATED THE WARRANTY WAS BEING EXTENDED FOR THE FRONT BRAKE COMPONENTS ONLY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE AND ROTOR PROBLEMS HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS ON HIS PART.

2010 DODGE JOURNEY STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING IT DEALER SAYS HE HAS VIEW IT WHEN IT HAPPEN.....I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS CONDITION AND DODGE IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT #2 THIS CAR HAS FOUR COMPLETE BRAKE JOBS ON IT IN ITS FIRST 10,000 MILES BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND CALIPERS I FEEL THE CAR SHAKE WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A CAR NEEDING THIS DONE IN IT 1ST 10,000 MILES ONCE AGAIN I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS OUT THERE.

JUST MADE A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT . A CAR APPROXIMATELY 100FT. DOWN THE ROAD WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. MY VEHICLE COULD NOT STOP AND I ENDED UP RUNNING RIGHT INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN INSPECTION AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM.

I BOUGHT A DODGE JOURNEY A FEW WEEKS AGO. I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS, AND THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO DRIVE DOWN THE HILL I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BREAKS. THEY WOULD SHAKE THE STEERING WHEEL HORRIBLY, AND I WOULD FEEL A GRINDING ON THE PEDAL. I WOULD HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES JUST TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM, THEY TOLD ME IT IS JUST THE WAY THE CAR IS MADE. I FELT THAT WASN'T ACCEPTABLE, SO THEY REPLACED THE BREAK PADS WITH A MORE EXPENSIVE PAD. THE SHAKING IS BETTER, BUT I CAN STILL FEEL THE GRINDING AND HAVE A FEELING THIS WON'T LAST VERY LONG. DODGE NEEDS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM, I FEEL LIKE THE BREAKS ARE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF A CAR FOR SAFETY AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE PEOPLE START GETTING HURT.

DEC. 29TH 2010. I HAVE A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY R/T. IT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD. IT HAS TAKEN ME SEVERAL TIMES TO TURN THE CAR ON EACH TIME I GET IN THE CAR. IT STALLS WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND NAV FLASH ON AND OFF FOR SOME CRAZY REASON. THE ALIGNMENT IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN OFF. THE CAR MOVES TOWARD THE RIGHT. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN I SLOW DOWN. NOW THE BRAKES ARE MAKING NOISES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DEALERSHIPS TO BE SERVICED NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT HAS LEFT MY CAR ON EMPTY(THE GAS) AFTER IT HAS BEEN SERVICED. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED DODGE(THAT IS WHAT THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID) OVER A MONTH AGO, AND STATED THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON A PART TO PUT A DEVICE ON MY CAR TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. I HAVE CALLED TWICE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT & THEY WILL NOT CALL ME BACK. SO I GUESS I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND A CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS AND DODGE IS DOING NOTHING. I DO NOT ACCEPT THIS!!!! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. IF THE SERVICE DEPT. WON'T CALL ME WHAT AM I TO DO. AND THE WARNING SCREEN FOR THE NAV. DOESN'T COME UP WHEN I TURN THE CAR ON. SO I GUESS DODGE CAN RISK THAT LIABILITY TOO. I GUESS IT WILL TAKE SOMEONE BEING INJURED TO GET THEIR ATTENTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE ROTORS WERE TURNED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE REPAIRED AGAIN AT HIS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,300.
