4/9/2019 - HAVERHILL, MA
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE HEARD IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR LEAF SPRING WAS FRACTURED AND CONTAINED RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER RECALL CAMPAIGNS: (INTERIM E12) AND E02 CONCERNING THE REAR LEAF SPRING, ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

DRIVESHAFT BROKE AT THE REAR YOKE. METALERGICAL FAILURE. TOYOTA HAS HAD MANY SAFETY RECALLS FOR DRIVESHAFT FAILURES, AS OF 12/27/2018 THEY HAVE NOT HAD A RECALL ON 2010 TUNDRAS. TOYOTA CLEARLY HAS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR MANUFACTURE OF DRIVESHAFTS. NEVER IN MY 43 YEARS OF DRIVING HAVE I EVER HAD A DRIVESHAFT BREAK. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN SHE NOTICED S SERIOUS VIBRATION AND PULLED THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON AN OFF RAMP TO S HIGHWAY. THE DRIVESHAFT HAD BROKEN AND THE TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID MY TRUCK HAD NO RECALL ON THE DRIVESHAFT DESPITE ALL OF THEIR PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR DRIVESHAFT PROBLEMS

ENGINE LEAKING OIL WHILE RUNNING AT THE CAM TOWERS ON BOTH SIDES CAUSES OIL TO DRIP ONTO ENGINE EXHAUST HEADER. THIS UNSAFE CONDITION COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THIS CONDITION HAPPENS TO ALL 4.6 AND 5.7 TUNDRA AND SEQUOIA ENGINES PRODUCED AFTER 2007. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURE MADE THESE ENGINES WITH INFERIOR SEALANT AT THE CAM TOWERS.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS PRESSED NOR VIA THE ELECTRONIC SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. ARLINGTON TOYOTA (10939 ATLANTIC BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225, (904) 302-9611) INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER SPECULATED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATORS MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALL CAMPAIGNS REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
