8/22/2017 - EVERETT, WA
LUCKILY WHILE PARKED, WIFE STARTED UP HER 2012 FUSION TO GO TO WORK. POWER ASSIST FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC DISPLAY IN INFO SCREEN AND CAR HAS NO POWER STEERING OR TRACTION CONTROL. HAD VEHICLE DIAGNOSED, FAULT CODES U3000 AND U2011 WERE PRESENT. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHO SAID NO OPEN RECALL ON VIN. RECALL 15S18 DOES NOT COVER MY VIN EVEN THOUGH THE CAR FITS ALL OF THE CRITERIA FOR THE RECALL INCLUDING DATE AND MANUFACTURE LOCATION. FORD CUST. SERVICE UNWILLING TO HELP. PARTS COVERED BY THE RECALL WERE REPLACED ON SEPT. 13, 2016 BY LOCAL FORD DEALER AT PREVIOUS OWNERS EXPENSE, PARTS FAILED AGAIN LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. THESE PARTS ARE NOT SAFE AND FORD IS UNWILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR EXTEND RECALL TO ALL VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST FAILURE. I'VE READ HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS NOW, WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR PRODUCTS?

TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V024000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE LOCAL DEALER FORD FAIRFIELD LOCATED AT 3050 AUTO MALL CT, FAIRFIELD, CA 9453, PHONE NUMBER: (707) 716-2144 WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE COULD NOT HAVE ANYONE RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

DOOR LATCH BROKEN. DRIVERS INSIDE DOOR LATCH BROKEN SO YOU CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. COMON PROBLEM THAT GOES BACK TO 2006 MODELS. PLASTIC MECHANISM FAILS AND DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. ALSO DOOR WILL NOT LOCK SO THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE SECURED. PREVENTING SOMEONE FROM GETTING OUT OF THE CAR HAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE IS A TSB FROM 2006 ON THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL FUSION, MILANO, AND LINCOLN MKZ MODELS. A RECALL ON ALL DOOR LATCHES INSIDE THE CAR WOULD BE APPROPRIATE.

SECOND TIME INSIDE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKE, CAN'T GET OUT OF VEHICLE UNLESS YOU ROLL DOWN ELECTRIC WINDOW AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. CAR HAS TO BE TURNED ON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. OTHERWISE YOU WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OUT TO PASSENGER SIDE. THIS COULD BE A REAL SAFETY HAZARD IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. FORD ONLY WARRANTS THE HANDLE WHEN FIXED BY THEM FOR TWO YEAR. WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT 15 MONTHS AND IT BREAKS AGAIN. HERE GOES ANOTHER 216.00 PLASTIC PART INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BREAKS.
