TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. WHILE TRYING TO AVOID OTHER VEHICLES, THE CONTACT STRUCK A TREE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT WAS AIRLIFTED TO A HOSPITAL IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH WHIPLASH SYMPTOMS, SPINAL INJURIES, AND LEG BRUISES. THE CONTACT HAD TO STAY AT THE HOSPITAL FOR TWO DAYS. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE PRESENT AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN IMPOUND LOT NEARBY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

AT 11:15AM I WAS DRIVING SOUTH BOUND ON I-294 MILE MARKER 29 GOING ABOUT 60 MPH IN THE FAST LANE ON THE LEFT. WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD LIT UP, AT THE EXACT SAME TIME MY CAR BEGAN TO SPIN. I BEGAN TO SPIN 360 DEGREES, INTO 2 OF THE RIGHT LANES AS I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL I BEGAN TO SPIN 3 LANES BACK TO THE LEFT. BY THE TIME I STOPPED SPINNING I HAD SPUN INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE FACING SOUTH. FORTUNATELY THE SPEEDING CARS WERE ABLE TO DODGE HITTING ME AND I ENDED UP IN THE EMERGENCY LANE WITHOUT HITTING THE MEDIAN STRIP OR ANY CARS OR TRUCK. MY CAR APPEARED TO BE IN PERFECT CONDITION EXCEPT MY DASH BOARD LIGHTS WERE LITE BUT I HAD NOTICED THAT THE HEAT WENT OFF SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD TURNING ON. I HAD NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. I CALLED 911 AND A STATE TROOPER CAME ALONG WITH I-DOT WHO ADVISED ME TO CALL FOR A TOW AND THEY PULLED OFF LEAVING ME IN A DANGEROUS SPOT WITH NO HAZARD LIGHTS IN THE LIGHT DRIZZLE. IT BEGAN TO RAIN AND EVENTUALLY SNOW. AFTER2 HOURS I CALLED *999 TO INFORM THEM THAT I WAS STILL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THAT CARS WOULDN+T BE ABLE TO SEE ME DUE TO THE SLEET AND THE SLIGHT FOG IT WAS CREATING. I ALSO LET THEM KNOW THAT THE TOW COMPANY DIDN+T WANT TO TOW ME FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I-DOT CAME, TRIED TO JUMP MY CAR, AND THEN LEFT ME TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. AFTER A TOTAL 4+ HOURS THE TOW TRUCK FINALLY ARRIVED AND TOWED ME TO PEP BOYS. ONCE AT PEP BOYS THEY STATED THAT MY BATTERY WAS DEAD BUT MY ALTERNATOR WAS WORKING PROPERLY. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY AND I DROVE HOME 6 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT. MY HYUNDAI GAVE ME NO WARNING AND TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I BLESSED TO HAVE ESCAPED DEATH AND A MASSIVE TRUCK AND CAR PILE-UP ON I-294 RIGHT OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO.

ON JULY 14, 2017, I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AT A SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. ABOUT MIDWAY INTO THE TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO COMPLETE THE LEFT TURN. IN ADDITION, I WAS BRAKING AND THE ABS BRAKING DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT RAN INTO A CONCRETE CURB. THE RESULT OF THE MALFUNCTIONS OF THE STEERING AND BRAKING ON MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WAS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING BUMPER, WHEEL, TIRE, RADIATOR SUPPORT, ETC. I AM VERY THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE OR INJURED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE - OR THE LACK THEREOF - ON JULY 14TH. SOMETHING HAPPENED AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN IT DESPITE INSPECTING SCANNING CODES, ETC. THE VEHICLE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING, THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION, AND THERE WAS DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG(S). THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ELECTRIC ASSISTED STEERING AND BRAKING ON THE 2013 ELANTRA ACCORDING TO RESEARCH. I WANT TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF AN ADDITIONAL COMPLAINT REGARDING MY ELANTRA. THE DAMAGE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT FRIGHT FRONT WHEEL, RIGHT FRONT TIRE, RIGHT FENDER LINER AND INNER BRACKET, RADIATOR SUPPORT, RIGHT HINGE PILLAR, RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM, RIGHT FENDER, PAINTING AND 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND LOCKED EVEN THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THIS MALFUNCTION PROHIBITED ME FROM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AND COMPLETING THE LEFT TURN SAFELY. THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED AS IT DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND I NOTICED A SLOW ABS SOUND VERSUS THE TYPICAL VERY RAPID ABS SOUND WHEN HARD BRAKING. THE MALFUNCTION OF THE STEERING AND THE BRAKES COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE BUT FORTUNATELY DID NOT.

UNKNOWN. THE BRAKES ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY HOLDING UP ON THE STREET WHILE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONCE STOPPED OR STOPPING, THERE IS A SLIGHT HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS AS IF THE CAR IS HAVING TROUBLE STAYING IN PLACE. THE BACK LEFT TAIL LIGHT OCCASIONALLY FLICKERS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CONTINUES TO FLICKER WHEN TAPPED. THE BRAKE LIGHT IS COMPLETELY OUT NOW AND HAS BEEN ADJUSTED BEFORE WITHOUT REPLACEMENT OF THE BULB. WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AND NIGHT THERE ARE RARE MOMENTS WERE THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT WILL WORK AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 5 MPH WHEN MY ESC INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. BOTH OF MY FRONT BRAKES IMMEDIATELY LOCKED UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THINKING THAT WOULD RESET THE SYSTEM. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND THE BRAKES WERE STILL LOCKED UP. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK OFF AND UNPLUGGED MY BATTERY HOPING THAT WOULD DO IT. STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF SITTING THERE THE BRAKES FINALLY RELEASED AND I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE LIGHT WAS AND STILL IS ON BUT THE BRAKES ARENT LOCKED UP AT THIS TIME. IM JUST AFRAID OF IT HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE AT FASTER SPEEDS. IT WOULD MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT THE VERY LEAST. I HAVE 4 KIDS AND A WIFE AND MY WIFE IS USUALLY THE ONE WHO DRIVES THE CAR. IM JUST THANKFUL IT DIDNT HAPPEN UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.

THEY NEED TO WIDEN THE VIN NUMBERS EFFECTED AS MY VEHICLE WAS EFFECTED BY THIS SAME ISSUE. THE BREAK STOPPER BROKE INTO MANY PIECES ALL OVER MY FLOORBOARDS AND MY BREAK LIGHT WAS CONTINUOUSLY ON. IT THEN KILLED MY CAR BATTERY BY USING THE BATTERY TO POWER THE BREAK LIGHTS WITH THE CAR OFF AND KEYS OUT THE CAR. IT WONT SHOW IF YOU ARE PRESSING THE BREAKS AND IT MAKES IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS DRIVERS BEHIND YOU WILL NOT KNOW IF YOU ARE HITTING THE BREAKS. PLEASE ADVISE THEM TO BROADEN THE RECALL #146 AS THIS AFFECTS MANY DRIVERS.

THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. I DISCUSSED IT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT OUR DEALERSHIP, AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, AND THAT HYUNDAI DID AS WELL, BUT SAID THERE IS NO SOLUTION CURRENTLY. THE STOPPING POWER IS NOT GOOD WHEN THIS HAPPENS. AFTER IT DRIES, THEN THE BRAKES FUNCTION NORMAL. DEALERSHIP SAID NEW PADS AND ROTOR MIGHT HELP, BUT WASN'T A WARRANTY ISSUE. THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED! THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM THAT GETS SOMEONE KILLED. ALSO, I FIND THAT OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEM.

THEY ALSO SAID I MIGHT NEED ANOTHER PART. TOTAL COST OF ALL OF THIS WILL BE AROUND $1600. SINCE MY CAR HAS OVER 100,000 MILES, IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IT SKIDDED, BUT SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER AROUND A WOOD PILE AND AVOID TREES. CAR STOPPED WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A DIRT MOUND. THIS WAS TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. BUMPER WAS RUINED, AND THERE IS DAMAGE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NO FIRE OR INJURIES. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHO NEXT DAY DROVE CAR AROUND DEALERSHIP LOT AND FOUND NO BRAKE PROBLEM. CRASH DAMAGE MADE CAR NOT ROAD-WORTHY TO TEST BRAKES AT HIGHER SPEED. CAR HAS ABOUT 42,200 MILES ON IT. BACK IN MID-SUMMER, THE DEALER HAD REPAIRED A PROBLEM THAT APPARENTLY WAS BRAKE STOPPER RECALL-RELATED (A LATE-AUGUST RECALL). I DROPPED IT OFF TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. ALMOST A YEAR LATER (JULY?) 2014, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. OUR ELANTRA BEGAN MAKING GRINDING NOISES WHEN WE PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE BRAKES OR ROTOR WERE DEFECTIVE. WHEN THE SHOP INSPECTED THE CAR, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE NOISE, AND TOLD US THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT SHAPE. OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, THE NOISE BECAME LOUDER WHEN BRAKING, PLUS IT BEGAN MAKING A WHUMP-WHUMP-WHUMP NOISE THAT APPEARED TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE SPEED AND ROTATION OF THE WHEELS. THE SOUND WOULD INCREASE WHEN WE STEERED THE CAR TO THE RIGHT, AND WOULD DECREASE WHEN WE STEERED LEFT. THE WHUMPS WERE BARELY AUDIBLE AT 5 MPH, BUT WERE OVERLY LOUD AT 40 MPH. I THOUGHT IT WAS PLASTIC TRIM FLUTTERING IN THE WIND, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING LOOSE. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AGAIN, I THINK IN AUGUST, I TOLD THEM THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE THAT THEY NEEDED TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THE WHUMP NOISES AND THE GRINDING NOISES WHEN WE APPLIED THE BRAKES. THIS TIME THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE BOLT HOLDING THE LEFT WHEEL COMING UNSCREWED. THEY TIGHTENED THE BOLT UNDER WARRANTY REPAIR SERVICE, AND THE CAR HAS NOT MADE THE WHUMP NOISE OR HAD GRINDING BRAKES SINCE THE REPAIR. I DOUBT THIS PROBLEM WAS LIMITED TO ONE CAR IN THE FLEET, AND I BELIEVE HYUNDAI SHOULD HAVE ISSUED AN ADVISORY TO THEIR SHOP MANAGERS TO BE WATCHING FOR THIS PROBLEM SO THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FOUND AND CORRECTED THE FIRST TIME THAT WE TOOK THE CAR IN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER CHANGING THE COIL SPRINGS AND REPLACING THE TIRES THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND INFORMED DEALER OF SITUATION AND SERVICE REP CLAIMED IT WAS HOW THE ABS SYSTEM WORKED AND THAT WAS ALL IT WAS, THE ABS SYSTEM WORKING. TOLD HIM THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE LEFT WHEEL IS INVOLVED HITTING OR GOING OVER BUMP. FIRST TIME OWNED VEHICLE WITH ABS BUT I THINK THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT SUPPOSE TO HARDEN UP WHILE ABS SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING AS THIS WOULD LIMIT ANY BRAKING CAPACITY. FEELS LIKE THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM AND DEALER IS NOT TAKING IT SERIOUSLY. WITH NO WARNING THE CAR WENT TO THE LEFT ACROSS 3 LANES AND THEN BACK TO THE RIGHT 3 LANES AND AGAIN TO THE LEFT 3 LANES BEFORE I COULD REGAIN CONTROL. THE SEMI BEHIND ME JUST ABOUT JACK KNIFED TRYING TO AVOID HITTING ME. IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE THE TRAFFIC WAS VERY LIGHT AND THE SEMI AND I WERE THE ONLY ONES ON THE ROAD IN THAT AREA AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER IN PADUCAH THEY SAID IT WAS MY BRAKES, THEY CUT THE ROUTERS. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR OVER 55 MPH AS IT WOULD WANDER TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY HOME STATE I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM TO RETURN IT TO HYUNDAI. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS EVER HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE. I HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM SO THIS IS A COVER UP BY HYUNDAI. THE STEERING ON THE HYUNDAI IS BAD! THERE NEEDS TO BE A MAJOR RECALL ON THIS ELECTRONIC STEERING. AT ABOUT 7715 OR SO MILES OF SLOW, STREET DRIVING, I TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICE A LOUD RACKET, BANGING NOISE. I TAKE IT IN THE DEALER. DEALER SAYS THEY FOUND "A COUPLE OF LOOSE BOLTS" WHICH THEY TIGHTENED AND THAT WAS IT. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. ABOUT A WEEK LATER,[AROUND 7850 MILES] I TAKE IT AGAIN ON THE ROAD. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MILES OR SO OF 70+ M/H DRIVING FOR THE RACKET TO SHOW ITSELF AGAIN. I TAKE IT ONCE MORE TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME I POINTED OUR THAT I HAD NOTICED SOMETHING UNUSUAL WITH THE ALIGNMENT OF THE REAR,LEFT SHOCK ABSORBER. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER TELLS ME THE CAR HAS BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OF SOME SORT AS THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS ALL BANGED UP, THE ABSORBER IS MISALIGNED, THE BRAKE LINE IS HANGING PRECARIOUSLY CLOSE TO THE TIRE, ETC AND THAT I MUST HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. [THEIR GALL AND AUDACITY IS AMAZING!], AS A RESULT, I HAVE TO ASSUME ALL COSTS!. THEY CLEARLY WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME, THE CUSTOMER. SALES MANAGER SAYS THAT I "SHOULD HAVE INSPECTED" THE CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT..AGAIN, THE GALL OF THIS MAN! I SAW NO PROOF THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN "THOROUGHLY INSPECTED" AS HE CLAIMS. I SWEAR UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY THAT THIS CAR WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I CONTEND THAT THE DEALER HAD FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THIS AND WILLINGLY AND WANTONLY SOLD IT TO ME IN THE HOPE THAT I DO NOT NOTICE MAYBE?. I ALMOST CLIPPED ANOTHER CAR AS WELL AS THE MEDIAN, BUT BARLEY MISSED BOTH. I HAD BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL, I DID NOT STOMP ON THE BRAKES, AND YET I STILL LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. IT ALSO CONSTANTLY SWAYS TO ONE SIDE AS WELL AS THE BRAKES LOSE GRIP IF YOU RUN OVER ANY BUMP AT ALL. YOU GUYS NEED TO RECALL THESE CARS, THEY ARE NOT SAFE AND I AM NOT PAYING ALMOST 400 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A CAR THAT COULD EASILY INJURE ME IN AN ACCIDENT.

WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN SURFACES OR BUMPS AT SPEEDS OF 30MPH AND UP THE REAR END SEEMS TO BE OUT OF CONTROL MAKING THE VEHICLE VEER INTO ANOTHER LANE. THE SUSPENSION ON THE VEHICLE FOR SUCH LOW MILES IS ALSO VERY NOISY AND RATTLES OVER THE SLIGHTEST IMPERFECTIONS ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 3/12/14 AND THE HYUNDAI SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT A HYUNDAI TECH TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. ALSO THEY FOUND THAT THE ROTORS HAD RUST ON THEM AND HAD TO BE RESURFACED/MACHINED. ROTORS SHOULD NOT GO BAD WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS LOW MILES. I PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND NOW AM STUCK WITH YEARS OF PAYMENTS. I AM NOT A HAPPY HYUNDAI CONSUMER. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. PRESSING THE BRAKES EVEN HARDER COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. THE CAR FINALLY CAME TO A HALT AS IT HIT THE POLE (THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED). THE AIR BAG DID NOT COME ON, MY HEAD AND NECK HIT THE BRAKES. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT INJURED AND NO ONE ELSE WAS EITHER. BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED, THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF IT BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING DEFECTIVE IN THE CAR. THIS IS VERY SCARY.

I OWN A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WITH APPROXIMATELY 9000 MILES ON IT AS OF MAY 2013. IN JANUARY I HAD THE CAR SITTING OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT, AND WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKES. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT TO NOTICE ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE RUSTED. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER, AND AFTER INSPECTION THEY SAID ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THEY MACHINE SHOPPED THE ROTORS DOWN SO THEY WOULD MAKE A NOISE OR MAKE THE CAR PULSATE WHILE STOPPING. THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY I LEFT THE CAR SIT OUTSIDE OVER THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK MONDAY MORNING I NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS PULSATING AND MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PREVIOUS SITUATION. THEY SAID THAT THIS TYPE OF SITUATION HAPPENS IF THE CAR IS LEFT IN MOISTURE OVERNIGHT. I TOLD THEM THAT IS RIDICULOUS SINCE MANY PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE LUXURY OF A GARAGE. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN THE SHOP AGAIN TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. I AM NOW WAITING TILL THE NEXT APPOINTMENT TO BRING THE CAR IN. I HAVE A 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON THAT SITS OUTSIDE MORE THAN THIS CAR AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES BEFORE!

CLICKING AND LOUD BLUNKING NOISE COULD BE HEARD. DRIVER PUMPED THE BRAKES AND WAS ABLE TO ACTIVATE HALF WAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED BY DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER. THERE IS AN EXTREMELY LOUD GRINDING NOISE THAT KEEPS COMING FROM MY BRAKES. I JUST HAD THE 7500 MILE CHECK UP AND GOT ALL GREEN CHECKS BUT 10 DAYS LATER THE GRINDING IS EVEN LOUDER THAN BEFORE. I DREAD EVEN PUTTING ON MY BRAKES AND I AM NOT CONFIDENT IF PEOPLE JUMP OUT IN FRONT OF ME THAT THEY WILL RESPOND PROPERLY. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND WENT ON TO CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE SAYING THE SAME THINGS WITH AS LOW AS 20 MILES ON THE CAR. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG HERE. HAD BEEN HEARING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WOULD RAIN OUT AND ON THE ADVICE MADE AN APPT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER THE BRAKES GAVE OUT AND MY CAR HIT INTO MY HUSBANDS CAR THAT WAS DRIVING IN FRONT OF ME TO THE DEALER SO HE COULD DRIVE ME HOME. AT FIRST THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITHTHE BRAKES I INSISTED THEY KEEP IT OVERNIGHT AND THEYSAID THEY WOULD DRIVE IT WHEN THE CAR WAS COLD. THANKFULLY IT RAINED HARD THAT NIGHT AND EVEN THOUGH THEY WAITED TIL THE AFTERNOON TO DRIVE IT THEY WERE STILL ABLE TO HEAR THE GRINDING ALTHOUGH NOT NEARLY AS LOUD AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF THEY DROVE IT IN THE MORNING. THEY SAID THE ROTORS WERE BUILDING UP CORROSION SO THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM I INTEND TO INSIST TOMORROW THEY CHANGE THE ROTORS TOO BUT THE FACT STILL REMAINS THAT THERE IS NOW EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. THIS IS A NEW CAR AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING JUST 2 DAYS PRIOR MY HUSBAND LOST THE BRAKES FOR A FEW SECONDS THIS IS A POTENTIALLY VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.
