12/4/2017 - BREAUX BRIDGE, LA
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE SPEED INDEPENDENTLY DECREASED TO 20 MPH. THE ETC (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AND IT RESTARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE EXISTING COMPLAINTS FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THERE WAS NO CURRENT RECALL AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

PARKER MCGILL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI (105 PARK MCGILL DRIVE, 39759) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

TAKATA RECALL I BOUGHT THE JEEP PATRIOT 2014 FROM A DEALER ON 7/17/2017. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR A POTENTIALLY FATAL FLAW IN THE AIRBAGS. I HAD NO IDEA THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL UNTIL I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL LAST WEEK. I HAVE CONTACTED MY MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS AND THEY HAVE ORDERED THE PARTS. MY CONCERN IS THAT THEY KNOWINGLY SOLD ME A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A CRIMINAL ACT AND IT WOULD BE IF I AM INJURED OR KILLED DRIVING IT UNTIL REPAIRS CAN BE MADE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE RIVER OAKS CHRYSLER PLYMOUTH JEEP DODGE RAM DEALER (4807 KIRBY DRIVE, HOUSTON, TX 77098; 713-831-2802) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REMEDY FOR THE RECALL NEEDED TO BE TESTED TO CONFIRM THAT IT WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER PERFORMED THE REMEDY, BUT IT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE RECALL REPAIR WAS STILL DEEMED INCOMPLETE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBERS: 32742207 AND 32767855. THE MATTER HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
