Description CERTAIN TRUCKS, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, AND VANS EQUIPPED WITH BOSCH HYDRO-BOOST BRAKE ASSEMBLIES, THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE ACCUMULATOR MAY CRACK AND SEPARATE FROM THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY DURING NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS.
Consequences IF A SEPARATION OCCURRED AND THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WERE OPEN, FRAGMENTS FROM THE ACCUMULATOR COULD CAUSE INJURY TO PEOPLE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. THE PRESENCE OF THIS CRACK OR FRACTURED SURFACE COULD ALLOW THE HYDRAULIC FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE ACCUMULATOR CIRCUIT OF THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. THE LOSS OF FLUID WOULD CAUSE INCREASED STEERING AND BRAKING EFFORT AND A CRASH MAY OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Corrective action DEALERS WILL TEST THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY FOR FUNCTIONAL OPERATION OF THE TWO-FUNCTION VALVE. IF THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY FAILS THE TEST, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 23, 2005. I own a 2004 silverado 2500HD it has less than 51k my brakes are now spongy I contacted chevy and they said there is no recall on this problem
meanwhile I'm staring at a website that states all the recalls, I was also sent a letter sometime in 2005 but because I did not have a problem at the time I did not respond to it.
now my brakes are failing and they act as if they never sent me a notice, other than some noise in the steering wheel ,crackling from the rear springs, wind hitting the windshield
and very loud inside the cab with the windows up,tough making sharp turns at speeds less than
10 MPH,instrument light failure the spongy brakes and the weak parking brake, replacing all brake pads and rotors about a year after purchase of vehicle,it is still running with all this issues. does this make it reliable?
the scariest thing is the brakes everything else I can live with

Do you drive a 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
