Description Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty vehicles. The fuel tanks in these vehicles are at risk of failure and leakage in certain rear impacts.
Consequences A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
Corrective action Owners may take their vehicles to dealers and the dealers will perform a free inspection of the rear structure. On vehicles in the recall that are not equipped with a tow hitch, Chrysler will install a Chrysler designed tow hitch free of charge, provided the condition of the vehicle can support proper installation. On vehicles in the recall that are equipped with an aftermarket tow hitch, Chrysler will assess whether the hitch and surrounding areas show evidence of sharp edges or other puncture risks. If so, Chrysler will replace the tow hitch with a Chrysler designed tow hitch free of charge, provided the condition of the vehicle can support proper installation. On vehicles already equipped with a Chrysler designed tow hitch, Chrysler will inspect the area around the tow hitch installation, and if any installation issues are identified, they will be repaired free of charge. The recall began on August 1, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign numbers are N45 (for the Grand Cherokee vehicles) and N46 (for the Liberty vehicles).

My 02 liberty has caused me nothing but problems and i have replaced everything on it down to the engine due to a cracked head and just when i think i can relax the abs light comes on and now the rear gate will not open. I contacted chrysler when the engine was acting up due to my reading about other owners who had similar issues and basically they said since your warranty has expired we can offer "3 free oil changes". Why did i keep it you may ask....basically i could not afford not to. Chrysler does not care. You buy the car and thats the end of it. Also the car creaks when you get into it to. Honestly its sad when you think of it. No one wants to stand behind their products anymore. These 02 libertys are not reliable but they will never admit it. My daughter wants the car but i will not give her these headaches.

I bought a 2002 Jeep Liberty a little over a year ago and have received 1 recall notice. I contacted a repair/service center for the recall. They said they would order the parts and haven't heard from them since. Every day it seems as if I'm having to repair or replace parts on it! I would like to sell it back to Chrysler just for what I paid for it, as I'm tired of dealing with it.

My girlfriend was on net way to work when suddenly the drivers side paneling piece by piece flew at the drivers behind her while on the freeway! She was devastated. Her Windows are one by one slipping into the doors. The thing is falling apart. Can she file a law suit?

I own a 2002 that just came out of the shop again for The A assembly arm and needs front and rear ball joints.I did not recive any recall notice,I bought my jeep from a privet sale. How do I found out if the ball joints are covered?

Do you drive a 2002 JEEP LIBERTY?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
