I have a 2000 Monterey Sport XLS , 3.0 that has had the same problem mentioned in a Dec 15, 2003 - 103700- Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Torque converter shudder, surge, and or vibration (possibly intermittent) when driving 35-50 MPH at steady throttle. *TT. Now this says 3.5 engine yet mine is 3.0 and had had this problem for a very long time even causing damage to my vehicle due to the surge. I have only received 1 notice to get something fixed but never received anything regarding this. Why it's not just the 3.5. Another lady reported the same problem as I reported & they said it was being investigated. Well how long does this take if the 3.5 has this problem then it should be no surprise the 3.0 has the same.

Do you drive a 2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPORT?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
