Child Car Seat Complaints

My child is [XXX] old, and as he has grown, I have noticed significant problems with the way he is positioned and supported in this car seat. He frequently sits too far forward and does not appear to have adequate support to keep his head and body in a safe, comfortable position.There have been multiple occasions during car rides when my child has choked or struggled because he is positioned so far forward. The design of the base does not seem to allow him to lean back sufficiently, which causes him to slump forward rather than remain properly supported. This is especially concerning when he falls asleep. His head falls completely forward, and the seat does not appear to provide adequate head, neck, or upper-body support to prevent this.This was not something I noticed when my child was younger. He previously tolerated the car seat without significant issues. However, as he has gotten bigger, the positioning and lack of support have become increasingly obvious. His discomfort has also increased considerably.I have also experienced a separate concern with the installation of the car seat. After connecting the base to the vehicle's lower anchors and tightening the straps as instructed, I have noticed that the straps gradually loosen slightly during a car ride. While the amount of movement may appear minor, I consider any loosening of the installation system during use to be a serious safety concern. A car seat base should remain securely installed throughout the entire trip and should not become less secure during normal use.The combination of these issues is extremely concerning to me as a parent. I purchased this product with the expectation that it would securely restrain and properly support my child during a vehicle crash or sudden stop. Instead, I have observed my child repeatedly being placed in a forward-slumped position, including while sleeping, as well as an installation component that appears to lose some tension during use. The car seat did not receive any damages. However, the car airbags went off. The vehicle is damaged and a police report was made. The car seat was not inspected. I called directly to the car seat company and they recommended to reach out to NHTSA for further inspection of the car seat.

I own two Nuna RAVA car seats, and both have developed unraveling/tearing of the two-point harness buckle/strap between the child’s legs. One seat had noticeable tearing, which prompted me to closely inspect the second seat, where I found the same area beginning to unravel. I contacted Nuna and was initially advised to use glue or tape on the damaged area. After expressing my safety concerns about that, Nuna acknowledged that the damage is a safety hazard and instructed me to discontinue use of both seats. However, they refused to repair or replace the seats and instead offered a 10% discount toward purchasing a new seat. I am concerned that the same safety-critical component is failing on two separate car seats and that Nuna is acknowledging the hazard while requiring me to pay hundreds of dollars to replace the seats. Both seats are still within the expected usable life of the product. I believe this warrants investigation as a potential safety defect.

The foam is showing through on the child’s headrest. It’s the fabric does not fully cover it, and it can be accessed by the child. The bottom part of the cushion my child is able to grab it and pull it off of the car seat while he is riding in it, it is only secured by two little pieces of Velcro so he ripped up the Velcro and exposes the harness tightening strap, and the button in order to loosen his harness he can reach the button and loosen the harness on his own, becoming a safety hazard while I am driving in the car because his stripes are no longer tight to fit, and he could slip through them and become projected from the car seat in the event of an accident

Upon using with my infant the chest clip fell apart. Making it unsafe to use and posing a choking hazard as all the little pieces and magnetic pieces that fell out. The seat also does not securely stay in place in the base. I reached out to the company and they did not seem to care that this chest clip is unsafe and the seat in general. I had maybe used clip1-3 times my daughter only used seat a trip or so I can’t recall if it was our initial trip with seat or if it was one or two in. It was right away though like day or so into using the seat. We initially thought if we just got a regular clip from manufacturer could use seat but realized once we got that and tried to put it together on it that there was also a base issue. So seat has not been used again. Want to make sure that other parents don’t end up with this seat and safety issue. The clip fell apart upon getting child out of seat. If this would have happened in crash or when I wasn’t right there to gather pieces away from my infant this could have been deadly car seat issue. The date is approx that this happened as I would have to dig to find actual date. I didn’t realize I could file complaint until today when I saw a news article on recalls for a child safety seat. This is a known safety issue with this seat many people shared this happened to them as well. So it is very alarming this seat and other brands are making this magnetic chest clips the new standard. Please look into these! Our babies deserve safe car seats.

Have had 3 seats replaced under warranty by Graco and was told to make a report with you. The rigid latch anchors on two have been faulty after 2 months. The second one got stuck in the installed base and pulling the release button did nothing. The rigid latch on the first got stuck in the open position. The second they would move independently of each other and not lock in. The third is starting to have the same issue with getting stuck in the base. These have all happened within two months of normal use.

Uppababy markets their removable padding and fabric as washing machine friendly. Fabric was washed one time in the washer and the sharp Velcro stuck to the back of the fabric, ripping it. Brand new aria v2 car seat!

Walked out to my car after my childs appointment opened the rear passenger door and noticed that the foam had detached from the plastic shell causing it and the cover to fall forward, It was caused by the glue failing. This foam is supposed to protect my childs skull and neck from impact so if we had been in a wreak it being displaced could have caused injury or even death. I emailed photos of the carseat to the manufacturer, but it has not been inspected in person. I still have the carseat, and I am willing to have it inspected ( I did have to cut the buckle strap for Dorel to send a replacement seat)

My [XXX] who is rear facing was having a bout of car sickness and I pulled the carseat out to clean it. As I was attempting to clean it I noticed the strap near was fraying near the hip. I looked closer and the strap was frayed about halfway. This is the left hip where it connected to the carseat. The right side didnt have any fraying. I immediately stopped using the carseat and contacted the company. They sent me out new straps hoping that would fix the problem, but why would I replace the straps in fear it could fraying again without my knowledge. They said there wasnt much they could do and I said that I would file a formal complaint and not deal with them again. Extremely unsafe knowing there was a problem without my knowledge. I purchased an Evenflo Shyft Intuiti Travel System with a Revolve180 LiteMax NXT infant car seat. The car seat was manufactured on 03/27/2025, model TS100212542. I was notified by Amazon that the car seat was recalled due to a calibration issue with the level indicator that caused the product not to meet applicable federal performance requirements. I contacted Evenflo ParentLink regarding the recall and was informed that Evenflo would provide only a repair kit and would not provide a replacement or refund. Evenflo's proposed interim solutions include using the car seat without the rotating base, using a non-rotating base, or using the rotating base with a modified recline or a load leg. These alternatives do not provide an equivalent remedy for the product I purchased. I specifically purchased this infant seat because the base is designed to rotate. Both parents in our household have back problems, and the rotating feature was an important safety and usability consideration when placing our infant into the seat. Removing the rotating functionality or changing the installation configuration does not provide an equivalent product. Because I did not consider the proposed alternatives acceptable for safely and practically transporting my infant, I purchased a replacement rotating car seat. Amazon ultimately agreed to refund the recalled travel system and arrange pickup of the product. I am submitting this complaint because I believe the recall remedy should be evaluated to determine whether it provides an effective and reasonably equivalent solution to affected consumers, particularly when the recalled product's primary functionality is lost under the proposed interim solutions. I am not reporting a crash or injury.
