CONTINENTAL STEEL BELT RADIAL TIRES- Little rock, AR
Three 225/60 R17 tires bubbled in the sidewall and blew out causing loss of control. Two occurred on the same day another a few weeks earlier. The dot above is on the one remaining tire. This occurred on a brand new car purchased 2.5 months earlier from Bale Chevrolet. The dealer has been of no help what so ever. I had to tow and purchase new tires X 3

CONTINENTAL STEEL BELT RADIAL TIRES- Colonial Beach, VA
While traveling at approximately 55 mph under normal road conditions, the rear tire experienced a sudden and catastrophic failure. I felt the tire fail first, followed by an immediate loss of stability. The tire split down the center of the tread without warning. There were no prior symptoms, warning signs, or handling issues before the failure. During the loss of control, I then felt the rear of the motorcycle drop further. After the crash, a rear suspension linkage component was found to be cracked at the mounting point. It is UNKNOWN whether the linkage failure occurred before or as a result of the crash sequence, but it was not felt prior to the tire failure. The tire, 180/55ZR17 73W, had been installed in August and had less than 1,500 miles of use. Tire pressure was set to manufacturer-recommended levels prior to operation. The failed tire is available for inspection, and the damaged rear linkage component remains on the motorcycle. The failure created an immediate safety hazard, resulting in a crash and injuries to a passenger. The motorcycle sustained severe damage and is considered a total loss. No prior warnings, messages, or indicators were present before the failure.

CONTINENTAL STEEL BELT RADIAL TIRES- Brandon,, MS
Tire Size 225/45 R 18. The tire had slightly over 3,000 miles on it. 1. Rear driver side tire that is in my possession and available for inspection, but is in 2 parts. 2. My wife and I traveled from Brandon, MS to Birmingham, Al for a medical appointment early the next day. In Tuscaloosa, Al driving in right hand lane approximately 60 MPH the handling became rough, the tire blew out, causing loss of control and throwing the vehicle in center lane, fortunately no other vehicle was there, I regained control and moved to side of road without out any physical injury. 3. After attempting to change the tire, a wrecker had to be called and towed to the only tire store open, Firestone. The technician removed the tire and said the tire separated and was replaced with a new tire. 4. Upon returning home, the tire was taken to my dealer who inspected the tire, said it was too torn up (2 pieces) to tell if it was structural failure and Continental would not do anything. He said if tires fail it is in 1st 1,000 miles and something must have been hit. I advise that nothing was hit, that Continental needed to know about the tire. He offered no further assistance. 5. Tuscaloosa & Birmingham are roughly 50 miles apart, a little prior to reaching Tuscaloosa, the low tire sensor came on, which it will do occasionally, did not notice any change in how the vehicle handled and planned to have it checked out at a Continental dealer in Birmingham the next day.

CONTINENTAL STEEL BELT RADIAL TIRES- BLACKLICK, OH
I WAS DRIVING ON I-94 NORTH OF DETROIT WHEN I EXPERIENCED A MAJOR SHAKING OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND AS I HIT THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE THE SHAKING DECREASED. IT WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE BUT AFTER THE INITIAL SHOCK I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. HAD THE TIRE BLOWN OUT THE OUTCOME MIGHT HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. UPON INVESTIGATION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REAR RIGHT TIRE HAD A MAJOR DISTORTION. IN ONE AREA OF THE TREAD, ONE SIDE OF THE TREAD PROTRUDED BY ABOUT ONE INCH. A TIRE DEALER LATER DIAGNOSED IT AS A 'BROKEN BELT'. THE TIRE WHICH IS RATED AT 70# PSI FOR MAXIMUM LOAD WAS INFLATED TO 65# (THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS 60#). A PHOTO OF THE TIRE IS AT: HTTP://WWW.REESPHOTOS.COM/TEMP/091003TIRE04WEB.JPG THE TIRE DEALER MEASURED 8/32" TREAD AND SAID IT WAS 25% WORN. *TR

EXCESSIVE WEARING OF REAR TIRES ON HONDA CRV. "CUPPING" HAS OCCURRED ON REAR TIRES @ 16K MILES. ACCORDING TO DEALER, THIS OCCURS WHEN TIRES AREN'T ROTATED EVERY 3K MILES. I KNOW I REQUESTED AND BELIEVED THE DEALER HAD ROTATED MY TIRES @ 5K INTERVALS, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECORDS OF THIS.????? IF THIS IS THE CASE, WHY AREN'T THE OTHER TWO TIRES "CUPPING"? THEY HAVE 7500 MILES ON THEM SINCE THEY WERE ROTATED TO THE REAR POSITION.THE "CUPPED" TIRES WERE MOVED FRONT TO "ALLEVIATE" THE CONDITION AND ALLOW THEM TO WEAR IN, ACCORDING TO DEALER. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AND THE CONDITION HAS WORSENED! THEY CLAIM THERE ISN'T ANY DEFECTS ON THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS CONDITION?? I HAVE OWNED AND DRIVEN CARS FOR 43 YRS. AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS CONDITION!! I DO BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM IN WHICH HONDA DOESN'T WANT TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR. WE HAD PURCHASED A USED CRV IN THE PAST, FOR OUR DAUGHTER AND HAVE HAD TO BEG, PLEAD AND BATTLE THEM TO HONOR THEIR "MULTI POINT CHECKS & PRE-CERTIFICATION" CLAIMS AND WARRANTY! THEY ARE RUNNING THEIR ADVERTISING "SCAMS" AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT! *TR

THE TIRE (FRONT DRIVER SIDE) ON MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID (WHICH I PURCHASED IN JUNE 2007) KEEPS LOSING AIR PRESSURE AND I GET A WARNING LIGHT ON MY DASH ABOUT EVERY TWO TO THREE WEEKS. I RECENTLY READ ABOUT THE VALVE STEM RECALL BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD. I AM GETTING VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AS WELL AS THE BIGGER ISSUE OF USING SUB-STANDARD PARTS IN AMERICAN CARS. I CONTACTED MY FORD DEALER TODAY AND THEY ASKED ME TO GIVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER. AFTER I GAVE THEM MY VIN THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I BELIEVE I AM BEING SNUBBED HERE AND THAT FORD SHOULD REPLACE ALL FOUR VALVE STEMS AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. *TR

CONTINENTAL STEEL BELT RADIAL TIRES- PROSPECT, KY
ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH MY 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE. THIS WAS THE SECOND FAILURE ON A TIRE ON MY VEHICLE WITHIN A ONE WEEK PERIOD. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS MUCH LESS CATASTOPHIC THAN THE SECOND, HOWEVER, THE SYMPTOMS APPEAR TO BE RELATED. AS I CHANGED LANES ON A BUSY HIGHWAY I HEARD A THUMPING SOUND FOLLOWED BY RUBBER FLYING INTO THE AIR. THE VEHICLE TO MY RIGHT SLOWED TO ALLOW ME TO PROCEED TO THE SHOULDER AREA. THE VEHICLE HANDLED VERY WELL, BUT THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALLS. *TR
