Waymo LLC (Waymo) is recalling certain 5th Generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS) with software versions released prior to May 29, 2024 and map software released prior to June 4, 2024. The ADS systems could fail to avoid a pole or similar object.
The recall was influenced by the Office of Defects Investigation with about 672 units affected.

- Description:
- Waymo LLC (Waymo) is recalling certain 5th Generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS) with software versions released prior to May 29, 2024 and map software released prior to June 4, 2024. The ADS systems could fail to avoid a pole or similar object.
- Consequeces:
- The inability to avoid a pole or similar object increases the risk of a crash.
- Corrective action:
- Waymo has updated the ADS software, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by June 6, 2024.
