GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. (GITI) is recalling certain imported Primewell Valera Touring II tires, sizes 205/50R17 93V XL, 215/50R17 95V XL, 225/50R17 94V, 225/50R18 95T, and 205/65R16 95H, GT Radial Champiro Touring A/S tires, sizes 205/50R17 93V XL, 215/50R17 95V XL, 225/50R17 94V, 205/65R16 95H, and 225/50R18 95T, and Dextero Touring DTR1 tires, sizes 205/50R17 93V XL, 215/50R17 95V XL, 225/50R17 94V, manufactured by PT. Gajah Tunggal TBK in Indonesia. The affected replacement passenger car tires may develop cracks in the lower sidewall, potentially resulting in a loss of air.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 250,620 units affected.

Description:: GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. Gajah Tunggal TBK in Indonesia. The affected replacement passenger car tires may develop cracks in the lower sidewall, potentially resulting in a loss of air.
Consequeces:: A loss of air pressure may result in sudden tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: GITI will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected tires, free of charge. The recall began on October 24, 2016. Owners may contact GITI customer service at 1-877-342-0882.

DEXTERO TOURING DTR1 Complaints
This is the third Dextero DTR1 that has exhibited defects described in their 2016 recall (large cracks at the sidewall/tread area). This is a fatally serious defect: I would not drive at highway speed with these tires. My first complaint resulted in my tire being replaced. my second and third complaints are thus: there are no tires in stock to replace my defective tires and I was informed that a bank and routing number would be needed to pay me $109 for two defective tires. I complied with their request and was asked for additional personal information. I do not want to provide more personal information and have asked for a check instead.;
GT RADIAL CHAMPIRO TOURING A/S Complaints
The tires on this car are 215-55-R17 94 V, they were purchased through priority tire in September 2024 they were mounted by Mavis Tire in Lockport Illinois on April 28, 2026 while driving on the Illinois Tollway system at 7:30 in the morning the right rear tire started making a loud noise and then a pop sound. Where I proceeded to get over to the shoulder to get over to the shoulder. There was rubber trail all the way along the shoulder, where I pulled over from the tire after changing the tire and putting on the donut, I noticed a split in between the treads and the whole inner sidewall of their tire had blown out these tires were purchased as a set and when I got home, I noticed that three of the four tires were manufactured in 2023 and this tire in 2022. What concerns me is a week before this Card did a trip to Minnesota with a [XXX] grandson in the backseat. My cars are maintained meticulously, and these tires had an approximately 16,000 miles on them. I’ve never been XXX years of driving. Had a tire blowout like this. I contacted priority tire, which told me all they could do is try to help with contacting GT Radial as they are a third-party seller. PRIMEWELL VALERA TOURING II Complaints
The contact owns a 2002 Honda CR-V equipped with Primewell Tires, Tire Line: PF850, Tire Size: 205/70/R15, DOT Number: Y9CDCJTX. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 40 MPH, the rear driver's side tire became flat. While inspecting the tire it was discovered that the tire had develop a crack which extended from the sidewall to the top of the tire. The contact stated that the same failure had previously occurred with the rear passenger’s side tire. The cause of the failures was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The tire failure mileage was 20,000. The vehicle failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.;
