Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2020 Sonata and Sonata Hybrid

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020 Sonata and Sonata Hybrid, and 2019 Genesis G70 vehicles. The trunk latch may become damaged, preventing the opening of the trunk from the inside. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 401, "Internal Trunk Release."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 63,461 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020 Sonata and Sonata Hybrid, and 2019 Genesis G70 vehicles. The trunk latch may become damaged, preventing the opening of the trunk from the inside. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 401, "Internal Trunk Release."
Consequeces:: A person inside the trunk compartment may become trapped, increasing their risk of injury.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect the trunk latch and replace the trunk latch base, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 26, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 221/010G.

2019 GENESIS G70 Complaints
I own a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T Twin-Turbo V6, VIN [XXX], with approximately 122,000 miles. Twice within approximately two weeks, the vehicle has suddenly and unexpectedly experienced a near-total loss of propulsion while being driven. Without warning, the engine begins shaking and sputtering severely, the Check Engine Light illuminates, and the vehicle provides almost no usable acceleration. The engine does not completely stall but operates barely above a stalled condition. After safely stopping, turning the vehicle off, and restarting it, normal engine operation and full power immediately return and the Check Engine Light extinguishes. The vehicle may then operate normally for days before the condition occurs again without warning. This creates a serious safety hazard because the failure could occur while traveling at highway speeds, merging, changing lanes, or crossing traffic. A sudden near-total loss of propulsion under those circumstances could result in a serious or fatal collision. I have found reports from other Genesis G70 owners describing substantially similar intermittent loss-of-power conditions that temporarily resolve after an ignition restart. Genesis has also issued safety recalls involving G70 powertrain-related conditions, including NHTSA Campaigns 24V-528 and 24V-191. I have formally notified Genesis Motor America in writing and requested immediate investigation and repair. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA has an independent record of this recurring and potentially dangerous loss-of-propulsion condition and can determine whether it represents a broader safety defect affecting Genesis G70 vehicles. 2020 HYUNDAI SONATA Complaints
A/C blower motor fan would stop working. Happened twice within less than a year apart. Upon further inspection, multi fuse wiring overheated and melted, ruining fuse and making A/C stop working during 100+ temperatures outside. Apparently this is a well known issue with this make and model Sonata. Electrical failure.;
2020 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID Complaints
Over the last 3 months at least a dozen times the 12v auxiliary battery is completely dead after parking the car outdoors for an hour or so. This poses a safety issue, especially at night because you cannot easily access the car. You have to fumble around trying to get the key hole cover off in order to use the key supplied in the fob. Once you get access, you then have to press the 12v reset button in order to get the car started. This issue has been reported on the Hyundai sonata forums since the introduction of the 2020 sonata. At this point the dealer has not been able to find the issues as they say it has been occur while they have the car. Asking for the problem to occur while they are watching is unrealistic . Their calls to Hyundai tech support has been useless as they claim to have not heard of this issue.;
