Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2026 Lexus TX Plug-In Hybrid, TX Hybrid, TX, Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, and Grand Highlander vehicles. The rear axle carriers may have been manufactured with insufficient material strength and could break.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 5,408 units affected.

Description:: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2026 Lexus TX Plug-In Hybrid, TX Hybrid, TX, Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, and Grand Highlander vehicles. The rear axle carriers may have been manufactured with insufficient material strength and could break.
Consequeces:: A broken rear axle carrier can cause a sudden loss of vehicle stability and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect the rear axle carrier sub-assembly code, and replace the sub-assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 23, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB13, 26TA13, 26LB08, and 26LA08.

2026 LEXUS TX Complaints
The contact owns a 2026 Lexus TX 350. After purchasing and taking ownership of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in a recall prior to the purchase. The contact notified a local dealer and was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and arranged for the vehicle to be inspected or serviced at the dealer. The dealer scheduled a service appointment; however, the dealer later declined to service the vehicle and informed the contact that the VIN was not associated with a recall. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for loaner vehicle assistance. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear passenger-side tire frequently became flat. The contact also stated that there was an abnormal burning odor while coming to a stop, and that the TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V437000 (Power Train); however, the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,647.;
2026 TOYOTA GRAND HIGHLANDER Complaints
After starting the vehicle and coming to a conplete stop the vehicle will hesitate upon new acceleration. The hesitation causes a lag in the vehicle and it then will jerk or jolt while shifting. The vehicle will Rev up in a low gear and not shift correctly. This causes a safety issue especially when going into traffic. I have not taken it to the dealer as of yet, but I will be. This is an intermittent issue, so i fear toyota will say they cannot replicate the issue. There were no warning lamps when the event happens.;
