RECALL FOR TIRES : TREAD/BELT

CERTAIN AFTERMARKET MICHELIN BFGOODRICH, UNIROYAL, LIBERATOR, MEDALIST, PHANTOM, AND PROSPECTOR BRAND TIRES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 11 AND APRIL 24, 2004. THE TIRES WILL MANIFEST A LACK OF ADHESION BETWEEN THE STEEL BELT CORDS AND THE SURROUNDING RUBBER MATRIX WHICH COULD LEAD TO A TREAD/BELT DETACHMENT.

Description CERTAIN AFTERMARKET MICHELIN BFGOODRICH, UNIROYAL, LIBERATOR, MEDALIST, PHANTOM, AND PROSPECTOR BRAND TIRES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 11 AND APRIL 24, 2004. THE TIRES WILL MANIFEST A LACK OF ADHESION BETWEEN THE STEEL BELT CORDS AND THE SURROUNDING RUBBER MATRIX WHICH COULD LEAD TO A TREAD/BELT DETACHMENT.
Consequences THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Corrective action MICHELIN WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND REPLACE THE TIRES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN OCTOBER 8, 2004. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT BFGOODRICH TIRES AT 1-877-788-8899 OR UNIROYAL TIRE AT 1-877-458-5878.
