NUNA RAVACAR SEATS- Harleysville, PA
This seat is part of Recall Campaign 24C-002 (Unintended Harness Release). I performed the manufacturer's approved remedy (installation of the fabric debris shield/cover) a few months ago. THE REMEDY HAS FAILED. despite the installation of the shield and ensuring the mechanism is clean, the harness retractor still slips without the button being pressed. The manufacturer's mitigation kit does not resolve the safety defect. The seat remains unsafe for use.

The car seat involved is a Nuna RAVA convertible car seat that was sent to the manufacturer solely due to a safety recall. I declined the self-repair recall option and requested that Nuna perform the recall service, which they agreed to. During recall servicing, Nuna inspected the car seat and advised in writing that internal Styrofoam/EPS foam in the headrest was missing or broken and that the car seat is not recommended for continued use and is not safety tested in that condition. Despite determining that the seat is unsafe, Nuna returned the car seat to me without providing a replacement, credit, or other safety remedy. The manufacturer has stated that the damage is unrelated to the recall and has refused to replace the seat, offering only a discount toward purchasing a new car seat. As a result of the recall process, I am left without a usable car seat for my child. The car seat has been inspected by the manufacturer and remains available for inspection upon request. I am requesting assistance with recall compliance, as the recall has resulted in an unusable child safety product with no remedy provided.

Nuna had a major recall for their rava convertible car seats as your organization is aware of. However, there are two main issues that I'm having that Nuna has refused to address nor do they have a viable solution for. The first is that with the recall fix which was new material they sent out, the harness button is covered by Fabric and when the rava is in rear-facing mode it becomes almost impossible to reach the harness release button. Nuna recommended using the leg rest to address the issue, however, the issue does still persist. In a time of emergency, it would be incredibly difficult to get the child out quickly , and normally it is just very difficult. I have attached image so you can understand what I'm talking about. The second issue is that the Fabrics that Nuna has issued for the recall do not match the Fabrics of the original purchased equipment. This is a huge problem because there are now mismatches in fabric types versus inserts and consumers paid for a certain type of fabric and have only gotten the black or the granite as replacements as part of the recall. For the date that these things happen as is required by this form , I've put in and around the date that I received the Fabrics.

NUNA RAVACAR SEATS- woodbury , CT
Crotch buckle belt is frayed and no longer safe to use. this should not fall under the umbrella of normal wear and tear since it is a safety strap. Nuna claimed it to be caused by a rodent, but there is no other evidence or signs of any other rodent activity

After the straps are tightened, the child can push the straps and they become loose. The straps do not stay tight and locked in like they're supposed to.

My Nuna rava was part of the recent recall that happened. The company offered remedy kits to replace the seat fabrics as well as tools to clean where the harness straps tightened/loosened. We received the remedy kit in March after waiting 3 months for the kits to be available. I followed the instructions for cleaning of the car seat and installation of the new cover. My child’s safety was put at risk as the straps are now able to loosen without pressing the button. We had not had strap loosening issues initially, but now are despite having followed the instructions as part of the recall which I was told would resolved the issue and prevent further concern over the strap mechanism failing. To my knowledge this is a known issue that is what caused the recall for the car seat in the first place. I have removed the car seat from use as it is no longer safe with the straps loosening. I have contacted Nuna Baby customer support.

During normal use, the headrest of the Nuna Rava convertible car seat snapped at the foam structure. The seat was properly installed and has never been in an accident. The damage was discovered when removing the cover for cleaning. This structural failure compromises the seat’s integrity and could put a child at serious risk in a collision. I have photos of the damage, proof of purchase, and full email correspondence with the manufacturer. Nuna was contacted and is aware of the defect. Their response included instructions to temporarily repair the seat using hot glue and packing tape, which would not provide sufficient protection in a crash. The seat has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or any other third party.
