2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO RECALL - #14V301000

RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM : SOFTWARE

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban vehicles equipped with a base radio and an internal amplifier. The radios in the affected vehicles may become inoperative, and as a result, there would be no audible chime to notify the driver if the door is opened with the key in the ignition or no audible seat belt warning indicating the seat belts were not buckled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention," and 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Description General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban vehicles equipped with a base radio and an internal amplifier.
Consequences Without an audible indicator, the driver may not be aware that the driver's door is open while the key is in the ignition, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway. Additionally, there would be no reminder that the driver's or front seat passenger's seat belt is not buckled, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective action GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. The recall began on July 2, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact GM's customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GMC owners may contact GM's customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 14315.
Notes Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

I have a 2014 Silverado ltz and its having some sort of electrical issue. The stabilitrac light illuminates on the dash and at the same time the truck jerks the steering wheel back to center and loses braking ability and door locks will lock and unlock quickly. The truck has also stalled when this has occurred multiple times. I took it into dealer and they told me the computer needed reprogramming. They performed the reprogramming of my computer and about 5 days later the truck exibited the same symptoms. Clearly the issue has not been resolved and when I contacted gm they told me the computer can do that when they need reprogramming. I believe this truck to be a major safety concern and is going to cause me or my family to become injured in a crash. Also dangerous to other people on the road if I lose power and steering in the middle of driving 60mph on the highway.

Do you drive a 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
