SAFETY 1ST ONBOARD Complaints

The carrying handle snapped from one side. It is available for inspection. The child was not at risk because they were not in the car seat at the time. It has not been inspected by anyone. It was returned to our office.

Myself and several other CPST's evaluated this seat on 2 separate occasions in our NICU while preparing to perform a angle tolerance screening test for babies ready for discharge. The "level line" for this particular seat was on the stroller attachment at the base of the handle and if used to level the seat with the ground would make the angle of the infant incorrect (almost completely upright position) and potentially place the infant at risk. We provided seats to both families so that the babies could be safely discharged. The seats were purchased at Walmart and Walmart.com as part of a travel system. The families requested to take the seats back for refunds.

Where seatbelt would secure carseat if you weren't using the base is sharp. My child's finger got cut. Pictures attached of injury, blood on carseat from injury and where it is sharp on the carseat that caused the injury. Called company and no answer, emailed and got automated response with a claim number stating I would be contacted soon.

The level line on the car seat shell is incorrectly placed. With its current placement, if you were to make the car seat level with the ground, it would put the car seat at an angle somewhere between 75 and 90 degrees (should be 45 degrees). A registered car seat technician noticed this during a car seat safety check appointment.

Trying to install base for new parents: Safety 1st On Board LTX Infant Carrier Latch strap has a piece of webbing sewed in the middle to the attach to the base this does not allow for a tight instillation of the base. Also noticed depending on type of vehicle that the base is installed in the seat does not remain tight or seat evenly on a seat. Also, the level line is in such a terrible spot that it is very difficult to use .

Car seat level indicator is not appropriate. For a rear facing only car seat, the infant carrier would need to be placed almost completely upright to get the line level. This has been observed on at least 8 car seats from different families. They seem to be part of the MonBebe Dash Travel System. I have attached two car seat labels from different families.

Evaluating car seat in NICU for car seat study. Car seat was to be rear facing and we utilized the base to assist with proper recline. Upon locating the level bar on the side under the handle. We attempted to make car seat reclined according to level bar for positioning and the seat did not look right. I utilized the base foot and noticed the level bar was at an increased angle. When level indicator was parallel with floor this increased the incline to almost 90 degrees and not an appropriate baby's safety, (the seat is inclined so far forward it seems the angle of a convertible forward facing seat). This presents a great danger to baby's safety and is confusing when it comes to following manual directions to safely install car seat. If the level bar is used, the baby will be at risk of occluding their airway and having a sentinel event.

The contact owns a Safety-First Car Seat, Model Number: 1C261BLBH, Model Type: Onboard 35 LT, Manufactured Date: 12/20/2021. The car seat was being utilized in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado when the contact noticed that the latches of the lower anchor had failed to secure the base of the car seat after several attempts. The contact then stated that the failure recurred while attempting to utilize the stroller. The car seat was not diagnosed or replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.

The contact owns a Safety-First car seat, Model Type: Onboard 35 LT, Model Number: IC354GAJ, Manufactured Date: March 23, 2022. The car seat was being utilized in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the car seat failed to fit securely into the stroller and car seat base. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The car seat was not repaired or replaced.

The base does not connect fully with the carseat. It connects at the bottom of the base, but not at the head of the base. I can lift the head of the carseat up when it is connected to the base. I've had several carseat and this is the first one that the base does not connect fully to the top and bottom. I believe it has to be a design or manufacturing error
