COOPER TIRES Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Expedition equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discoverer AT, Tire Size: 275/55/R20, DOT Number: UTV11R9 4221. The contact purchased four new tires. The contact called Walmart for assistance. The contact became aware that there were large blisters on the sidewalls of the tires. The tire was 80 percent worn. The second and third tires were at 50 and 80 percent worn. The blister was about six inches long. The blister was located on the passenger’s side rear tire; the driver’s side rear tire and the driver’s side front tires had blisters. The contact was able to stick a finger between the blister and the ball joint. The contact was concerned about a blowout. An attempt was made to contact the tire manufacturer, but there was no response. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 162,749.

Purchased set of 4 Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 195/65R1591H tires on 26 Jun 2026 @ 48,847 miles on the odometer. Three of the tires had the same serial number of U9AE1CR2622, with the 4th of U9AE1CR4822. Brought car in for service on 20 Oct 2025 @ 65,340 due to a slow leak on the rear passenger and was informed the rear passenger and front driver tires had tread separation and needed replacing. The tires both had a serial number of U9AE1CR2622. Tires were replaced. 15 Aug 2026, the front driver tire (the remaining tire with the U9AE1CR2622 serial number; it had been rotated to that position during the 20 Oct 2025 service) the tire pressure indicator light came on and discovered a slight (~7 psi) drop and aired up to correct pressure. However the tread appears rounded as apposed to flat across like the other tires and have confirmed the tread has separated. The car is driven moderately on paved roads and does not sit for extended periods of times. The tread depth is still quite deep. I expected much more out of these tires and do not plan on buying Cooper again. I believe the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 195/65R1591H tires (and perhaps more specifically, the U9AE1CR2622 batch) is defective and dangerous.

P 285 50 R20 Cooper Discoverer HT blew out on Mass Tpke I 90 EB on Aug 8 @ approx 7:00pm while driving. Whole center section came off right rear tire leaving only the sidewalls on the rim. was able to manuever vehicle off I 90 EB off to the shoulder. Vehicle was towed of Turnpike to safe location. Attempting to reach Cooper to advise and see if any recourse for reimbursement for blown tire and remaining tires on vehicle with same production date on tire 0f 3919; DOT UT6K CLD

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250 equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discoverer AT3, Tire Size: 295/60/R20, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH and hauling a trailer, the vehicle jolted into oncoming traffic and started wobbling. The contact regained control of the vehicle and eventually steered to the side of the road and parked the vehicle. The contact became aware of a flat spot on the tire, and the spare tire was placed on the driver’s side front. The contact continued driving, and the wobbling became controllable at speeds under 50 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the residence, where the contact observed that the driver's side front tire had tire separation in the middle of the tire. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The tire failure mileage was 37,000. The vehicle failure mileage was 52,000.

I am reporting repeated structural failures involving Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires (size 255/45R20) installed on my 2016 Ford Flex AWD. These failures include steel belt exposure, rubber separation, and premature carcass breakdown, all occurring at under 30,000 km (~18,600 miles). This represents catastrophic structural failure well before even half of the expected service life for comparable performance all-season tires. The failures occurred across two separate sets of RS3-G1 tires under normal driving conditions. The tires were properly inflated, aligned, rotated, and used seasonally. This is not treadwear, misalignment, or maintenance-related — it is structural degradation of the tire body. Structural separation with exposed belts presents a serious safety hazard, including the potential for sudden air loss or blowout at highway speeds. Risk is further elevated on AWD vehicles due to driveline sensitivity to uneven rolling diameters or abrupt tire failure. I contacted Cooper/Goodyear beginning 03 NOV 2025, providing detailed written documentation of the failures. The only responses received were generic treadwear/warranty templates that did not address the structural issues reported. I explicitly requested written-only communication and provided a clear response window plus a 2-week grace period. No substantive written response was ever provided. All defective tires remain mounted on wheels and stored indoors. I have a complete photographic evidence package and a preserved written correspondence record, available upon request.

The sidewalk of my tire blew out while driving on the highway in winter conditions. Luckily I was only going about 30 mph when it happened. The tires were advertised as 65,000 mile tires and my one tire catastrophically blew out with only 15000 miles on it. The tires are Cooper adventurer all season 225/55r17

265/50R20 Cooper Evolution H/T, all 4 tires have cracks all the way around each tire, possibly sidewall defects. Tires were purchased new from Bob’s tire in Attalla, Alabama.

Tire - 265/70 r18 Cooper Could have been a very bad accident. Tire blew out. The tire was inspected by Goodyear PCA-Visual only -recvd below response after several requests. All Internal Goodyear visual Inspection procedures & methodologies are confidential and/or proprietary information of The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Goodyear's findings in this claim are final, and we have closed our file with no further action.
