RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM : WIRING

ON CERTAIN TRUCK BODIES BUILT ON FORD LCF CAB CHASSIS, THE WIRING HARNESS (CONSISTING OF WIRES AND SPLIT CONDUIT) TO THE CARGO LIGHT SWITCH LOCATED ON THE DASH MAY BE INCORRECTLY ROUTED. THE HARNESS, IF SECURED TO THE STEERING SHAFT, COULD POSSIBLY LEAD TO WIRING ENTANGLEMENT AT THE GEARBOX UNIVERSAL JOINT.

Description ON CERTAIN TRUCK BODIES BUILT ON FORD LCF CAB CHASSIS, THE WIRING HARNESS (CONSISTING OF WIRES AND SPLIT CONDUIT) TO THE CARGO LIGHT SWITCH LOCATED ON THE DASH MAY BE INCORRECTLY ROUTED. THE HARNESS, IF SECURED TO THE STEERING SHAFT, COULD POSSIBLY LEAD TO WIRING ENTANGLEMENT AT THE GEARBOX UNIVERSAL JOINT.
Consequences THIS COULD RESULT IN ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITH REDUCED VEHICLE CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Corrective action DEALERS WILL REROUTE THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE CARGO LIGHT SWITCH AWAY FROM THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 7, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT UTILIMASTER AT 1-800-237-7806.
