2005 DODGE MAGNUM SXT AWD FILLED VEHICLE WITH 89 OCTANE GAS FROM SPEEDWAY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAR WOULD STALL UPON LEAVING THE PARKING AREA TO ENTER INTO TRAFFIC AND THEN WOULD RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS.

MY CAR HAD BEEN STALLING AFTER I WOULD FILL THE FUEL TANK. FIRST TIME WAS EXITING GAS STATION OFF THE NJ TURNPIKE AND MY 2005 MAGNUM STALLED. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. ANOTHER TIME I HAD JUST FILLED UP AND PULLED OUT OF STATION TO MAKE A TURN FOR WHICH THE VEHICLE STALLED ONCE AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO THEN IN TURNED TOLD ME IT WAS A BAD FUEL FLOW CONTROL VALVE, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE GAS TANK. THE PRICE TO REPLACE THE THE GAS TANK WOULD BE BETWEEN $1100-$1300 AND IS ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE SOLUTION.

MAGNUM 5.7L RT AWD..... STALLS REPEATEDLY AFTER GAS TANK FILL-UP. TAKES ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF RUNNING BEFORE ENGINE RUNS NORMALLY. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. DEALER SAYS THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG (IE NO ERROR CODES). INTERNET SEARCH LOCATES MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE SAME PROBLEM AND SAME DEALER RESPONSE, BUT INDICATE THAT IT IS A FAULT OF THE GAS TANK EMISSIONS COMPONENTS.

2005 DODGE MAGNUM RT, 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. CAR STALLS SINGLE OR MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING, SOMETIMES FOR SEVERAL MILES, AFTER REFUELING. STALLING WITHOUT WARNING OCCURS WHILE CAR IS MOVING OR TURNING. CONDITION APPEARS MORE PRONOUNCED AT LOWER TEMPERATURES AND WHEN ENGINE HAS NOT YET REACHED OPERATING TEMPERATURE. NO CODES SET DURING EPISODES. EPISODES UNEXPECTED, WITHOUT WARNING, INTERMITTENT, AND DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. CAUSE APPEARS TO BE FUEL TANK CONTROL VALVE FAILURE IN FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY LEADING TO RAW FUEL CONTAMINATION OF PURGE CANISTER. LIQUID FUEL APPEARS TO BE ENTERING EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM (ON-BOARD VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM) WITH FUEL ENTERING ENGINE UPON ACTIVATION OF PURGE SOLENOID, RESULTING IN RICH CONDITION LEADING TO STALLING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO FUEL THE VEHICLE TO ITS CAPACITY OR THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STALL WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VENT VALVE FAILED AND ADVISED HIM TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

2005 DODGE MAGNUM R/T HAS DEVELOPED A HUGE FUEL LEAK BEHIND THE TANK AT THE JUNCTION OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE; EVIDENTLY THE HOT PLASTIC SEAL AROUND THE FILLER TUBE IS FAILING AND IS GOING TO COST ME $1100.00 TO FIX. I HAVE NEVER HAD A FUEL TANK FAIL AND AM %&:?# TICKED OFF. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW FUEL TANK AFTER ONLY 100,000 MILES. I HAVE A BUICK WITH WELL OVER 532,000 MILES WITH NOT A SINGLE FUEL TANK ISSUE. TO ME THIS A FACTORY DEFECT THAT NOBODY HAS PICKED UP ON.

BEGINNING ABOUT APRIL 2007 (I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN JUNE 2004), I BEGAN HAVING A PROBLEM AFTER EVERY REFUELING - THE CAR STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT TAKES 3 OR 4 ATTEMPTS AT RESTART, THEN STARTS, ONLY TO STALL WITHIN 5 MINUTES OR SO OF MORE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, AND MY CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND IT WILL NOT MISBEHAVE FOR THE DEALER. IT SEEMS THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS BELOW 1/4 TANK AT REFUELING, SO I HAVE AVOIDED PROBLEMS BY FILLING UP BEFORE THAT POINT. HOWEVER, I TESTED IT TODAY, DROVE IT BELOW 1/4 TANK, REFUELED, AND IT DID IT AGAIN. NOTE - I ONLY USE THE APPROPRIATE GRADE GAS AND ONLY CHEVRON - NEVER ANY OTHER BRAND. I NEVER TOP OFF. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO CHECK THE FUEL FILTER, FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM, TO NO AVAIL. THEY INSIST THAT THE "COMPUTER SAYS ITS FINE" THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE CAR STALLS WHILE I AM DRIVING, NOT JUST IDLING.

I WAS DRIVING THE 2005 DODGE MAGNUM TODAY AND I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING UNTIL IT HIT ABOUT 6000 RPMS. I BRAKED, AND IT HAD NO AFFECT ON THE INCREASING SPEED. I HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE TO GET CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR WAS AN UNNERVING EXPERIENCE. THE LOCAL DEALER 'S SHOP SAID THIS WAS DUE TO CARBON BUILD UP IN THE BITTERLY. THIS CAR HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT. IF THAT IS THE RESULT OF CARBON BUILD UP PREPARE FOR MORE COMPLAINTS SUCH AS THIS ONE . THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. WHEN YOU STAND ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR GOES FASTER SOMETHING IS PLAIN WRONG.

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH DRIVER NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DRIVING ON HWY AT 60 MPH, DRIVER SMELLED GAS. PULLED CAR OFF ROAD , FOUND FUEL LEAKED FROM GAS TANK. MECHANIC STATED ROAD DEBRIS WAS CAUSE OF FUEL TANK RUPTURE.

2005, DODGE MAGNUM RT, 3800 MILES. STRUCK TIRE TREAD DEBRIS ON ROADWAY. BROKE VEHICLE FUEL LINE ADJACENT TO EXHAUST SYSTEM. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DISABLED DUE TO ENGINE STOPPAGE. RAW FUEL SPILLED ON GROUND. NO FIRE. FUEL SYSTEM IS PRIMARILY METAL WITH EXCEPTION OF PLASTIC CONNECTOR AT REAR WHERE FUEL TANK JOINS SYSTEM. CONNECTION NEEDS DEFLECTOR OR GUARD OF SOME SORT IF NOT TOTAL REDESIGNED TO AVOID FAILURE WITH FUEL LEAK AND FIRE HAZARD.
