1/18/2015 - Bobby Jagmohan
My Volvo S40 T5 Geartronic has stalled 4 times in mid-traffic in the past year. Strangely enough the car had started after a few hours and once after a day. The car has now been ''dead'' for 3 days and just refuses to start. I have been told by a Volvo Technician that this is caused by an over-heated fuel pump and the repair is going to be very costly. I have lost all confidence in this car and I will be afraid to make long trips for fear of the fuel pump failure again. This kind of failure in heavy traffic can cause a nasty life threatening accident. Please advise what steps I should take to rectify this serious fault and whether or not I will be able to drive this car with confidence again. With thanks and kind regards, Bobby J.

Do you drive a 2005 VOLVO S40?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
