TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DURANGO. VEHICLE LOST POWER NEARLY STRANDED AND CONCERNED ABOUT BEING INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO VEHICLE LOSING ELECTRICAL POWER NO ELECTRICAL POWER IN VEHICLE; ENGINE CONTROL MODULE OVERHEATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE LOST ELECTRICAL POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE BEFORE THE VEHICLE LOST ELECTRICAL POWER ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER STATED NO BUSS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE OVERHEATED DUE TO ITS PLACEMENT IN PROXIMITY TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NUT ON THE STEERING WHEEL KNUCKLE WAS STRIPPED WHICH CAUSED THE STEERING TO BE DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND SEVERAL UNKNOWN DEALERS WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THERE WOULD BE NO ASSISTANCE OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. 4/9/2019 - WELLSBURG, WV
1999 DODGE DURANGO. START OUT WITH GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT WOULD JUST STALL OUT. WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR A WHILE THEN IT WOULD RESTART. I REPLACED THE CAM SENSOR, CRANK SENSOR, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, TRANSMISSION SENSOR COMPUTER. DROVE FOR 6 MONTHS THEN IT STARTED HAVING THE RPMS TO FLUCTUATE AND WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING. PUT ANOTHER COMPUTER IN AND CHECKED SENSORS. IT KEEPS THROWING A CODE THAT COMPUTER IS BAD AND MULTIPLE CODES ARE BEING SENT FOR LOTS OF SENSOR ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN ON THE DODGE FORUM AND WOW THE COMPLAINTS ON THERE. HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.E OWN TWO DODGES AND AFTER THIS; THE PROBLEM I REALLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A DODGE TO ANYONE. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING, NOW AFTER ALL THIS, IT WILL NOT EVEN RUN ENOUGH TO MOVE TO TAKE TO A DEALER. WHICH THEY SAY THEY DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT THING WRONG.

JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE, THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT IS ON, CONTACTED SELLER AND HE STATED IT WAS NOT ON WHEN HE SOLD IT TO ME. I TOOK TO AUTO ZONE FOR THEM TO RUN THE NEEDED SCAN ON IT. IT SHOWED REAR WHEEL SENSOR. SO, I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE THEN RAN 3 DIFFERENT CODE SCANS ON IT AND IT CAME UP WITH NOTHING. SO, UNFORTUNATELY HE CAN'T FIX IT WITHOUT A CODE. UNLESS I WANT TO THRO MORE MONEY INTO IT JUST TO START REPLACE IKNG THINGS THAT MAYBE MAY NOT BE THE PROBLEM. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. UPON READING OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, I FEEL THERE IS A FAULTY SOMETHING IN THERE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIGURED OUT AND RECALLED. I PRAY TO GOD, MY BRAKES DONT GO OUT WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE VEHICLE. I AM A SINGLE PARENT AND CANNOT AFFORD TO JUST GO OUT AND BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. 4 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC IN THE LOS ANGELES, CA AREA THE ENGINE TURNED OFF, WITHOUT WARNING, WARNING LIGHTS, OR WARNING SOUNDS. ALL GUAGES WENT TO ZERO. THERE WAS NO ABNORMAL FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE EACH INCIDENT. POWER ASSIST TO STEERING AND BRAKES WERE ALSO LOST. EACH TIME IT WAS IN DRY, SUNNY WEATHER WITH THE TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 60 AND 80 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. EACH TIME I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A CURB OR PHYSICALLY PUSH THE VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC. EACH TIME, EXCEPT ONE, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD. THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BRISKLY BUT WOULD NOT START. AFTER 4 TO 6 ATTEMPTS THE CAR WOULD START NORMALLY AND THEN RUN NORMALLY AS IF NOTHING HAD EVER HAPPENED. EACH TIME THE GASOLINE TANK WAS AT LEAST ONE QUARTER FULL. TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THEN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY REBUILT 5 MONTHS AGO. THIS HAD THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A CRASH BUT DID NOT IN EACH OF THE INSTANCES.
