THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET BLAZER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT WHEN PROMPTED AND BECAME UNDONE ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. 8/1/2016 - GARDEN CITY, MI
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, ANOTHER DRIVER INFORMED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AN ABNORMAL SOUND AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE SAFETY HAZARD SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS BEING DIAGNOSED BUT HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 01V364000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.

I HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY INVOLVED WITH GM DEALERSHIPS FOR OVER FORTY YEARS AND POSSESS A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE IN PARTS AND SERVICE EXPERIENCE. I REMOVED THE SUSPECT SECURITY SYSTEM AND REPAIRED THE DAMAGED WIRING WHICH RESULTED IN THE IMPROPER INSTALLATION. DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE STRIKING ANOTHER AND DIED ON 12/29/14. DRIVER WAS 23 YEARS OLD. THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AS IN IGNITION DEFECT SWITCH CASES WHICH MAY BE THE CASE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THE SEATBELT WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE AND INOPERABLE, THUS NOT WORN AT THE TIME OF DEATH.
