THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE DRIVER OF A 2000 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FIRE STARTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V701000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EIGHT MONTHS LATER, HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 15V701000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

RE: 14350 UNINTENDED IGNITION KEY ROTATION. I HAVE TRIED 3 SEPARATE TIMES, OVER THE PAST YEAR, TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OF BY CALLING CRIPPEN AUTO, LANSING, MI. THE FIRST TIME I DID NOT HAVE THE VIN NUMBER. OK. THE NEXT THREE TIMES I WAS SENT TO SERVICE VOICE MAIL. I HAVE LEFT A MESSAGE EACH TIME REGARDING THIS RECALL. NOT ONCE HAS ANYONE RETURNED MY CALL. TODAY MY HUSBAND IS PHYSICALLY GOING DOWN THERE TO TRY AND GET A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. I AM TIRED OF TRYING TO DEAL WITH THIS DEALERSHIP.

2000 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH RECALL REPAIR ISSUES. THE CONSUMER STATED THE INVOICE STATED THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR THE IGNITION RECALL. HOWEVER, THE INVOICE ALSO HAD A $ 740.97 CHARGE FOR WORK DONE ON THE IGNITION. THE CONSUMER STATED THE WORK THE DEALER PERFORMED ON THE IGNITION, DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED THREE TIMES, DUE TO ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION.
