FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | 8/8/2013 - COLORADO SPRINGS, CO TOOK VEHICLE IN QUESTION TO MY MECHANIC DUE TO STARTING ISSUE AND FUEL SMELL. HE DIAGNOSED A SIGNIFICANT FUEL LEAK DUE TO A CRACKED FLANGE ON THE FUEL PUMP. HE FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR THIS EXACT MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF VOLVO. CALLED VOLVO AND THEY REJECTED REQUEST FOR RECALL REPAIR DUE TO VIN NUMBER NOT BEING INCLUDED IN RECALL. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL REGARDLESS OF THE VIN NUMBER BECAUSE IT HAS THE EXACT SAME DIAGNOSIS AS IS DESCRIBED BY THE RECALL. THE NOTION THAT A MAKER CAN EXCLUDE A VEHICLE WHICH EXHIBITS THE PROBLEMS TO BE FIXED BY A RECALL BASED ON EXTRANEOUS CRITERIA IS FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED. THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THERE IS A RECALL TO FIX THE SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR IN QUESTION. THAT THE VEHICLE IS EXCLUDED BASED ON EXTRANEOUS CRITERIA IS RECKLESS REGARD FOR MY SAFETY AND POTENTIAL BYSTANDERS!

SEAT BELTS | 5/15/2013 - LEWES, DE THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 VOLVO S60. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO OPERATE BY NOT RETRACTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
