SUSPENSION

5/19/2016 - FRANKLIN, KY
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND SVC LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE, DIM, AND SUDDENLY ILLUMINATE AGAIN WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHERE THE MOTOR WAS LOCATED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL SEIZED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MAINLY WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS WERE ACTIVATED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AXLE DETACHED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.

TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE AIR BAGS; HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE JERKED, ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSFER CASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.

THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE "SERVICE 4WD WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000.

THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE THROTTLE STARTED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE ON POSITION AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS FORTY DEGREES OR LESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
