VEHICLE WILL SHIFT INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE BUT WHEN TRYING TO GO FORWARD OR IN REVERSE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOCKS UP AND CAUSES VEHICLE TO STOP AND THIS COULD CAUSE FOR A UNEXPECTEDLY STOP CAUSING SOMEONE TO HIT ME FROM THE REAR AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS VIBRATING CAUSING THE GEARS TO CHIP AND DOES IT AT SLOW SPEEDS AND FAST ALSO WHEN IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN IT COMES TO A DEAD STOP WHICH AGAIN CAN CAUSE A UNEXPECTEDLY STOP AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

AFTER GETTING A BRAKE JOB I DROVE TRUCK ON FREEWAY WHEN THE BACK WHEELS LOCKED UP CAUSING SEVERE BOUNCING IN THE BACK END. THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO THE REPAIR SHOP BUT LOCKED UP A COUPLE OTHER TIMES ON WAY BACK. THEY BELIEVED THAT THEY HAD OVERTIGHTENED THE PARKING BRAKE CAUSING THE LOCK UP. THEY ADJUSTED BRAKE AND I AGAIN TOOK TRUCK OUT ONTO FREEWAY AND HAD IT LOCK UP AGAIN A COUPLE TIMES. I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AGAIN. THEY THEN BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN A REAR SEAL THAT WAS CAUSING REAR BRAKE PADS TO GET WET AND EXPAND, CAUSING THEM TO SWELL AND LOCK UP. THEY MADE FURTHER REPAIRS AND I DROVE THE TRUCK AS NORMAL FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS WHEN THE REAR END LOCKED UP ON ME AGAIN. EACH TIME IT LOCKED UP IT WAS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER FREEWAY SPEEDS. ONCE PULLED OVER TO SHOULDER THE REAR END WOULD FREE UP AND THEN DRIVE LIKE NORMAL. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN MARCH WHILE ON VACATION. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE, HOWEVER, I AM CAREFUL TO DRIVE AT SLOWER SPEEDS ON FREEWAY. I RECENTLY HEARD OF THE INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM IN 2009-2010 DODGE RAM 1500 PICKUPS AND BELIEVED MY TRUCK MAY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE REPAIR FACILITY THAT I WAS USING AT THE TIME IS S & K MUFFLER, 1317 N. MAIN, ROYAL OAK, MI 48067, (248) 548-9225.

DRIVING A 2007 DODGE RAM AT 35 MPH IN SNOW/SLUSH CONDITIONS WITH FULL TIME 4WD. THE SHIFT MOTOR ON THE TRANSFER CASE FAILED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RETURN TO 2WD WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION. THIS CAUSED ME TO GO INTO A SPIN. JUST PRIOR TO SPINNING, THE INSTRUMENT PANELS LIGHTS WENT OUT AND ALL GAUGES WENT TO "ZERO" MOMENTARILY. AFTERWARDS, THE 4WD AUTO LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND I HAD NO 4WD. THIS DESIGN IS NOT FAIL SAFE AND THERE ARE NO SAFETY WARNINGS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I ALSO FOUND OUT FROM MY LOCAL DEALER THAT THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT JUST IN THIS AREA.

EXPERIENCED STRONG VIBRATION IN FRONT LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE, AS THOUGH DRIVING ON RUMBLE STRIP ON HIGHWAY. SPEED WAS IRRELEVANT, ANYWHERE FROM 25 MPH AND ABOVE. FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS A LOCKED CALIPER OR OTHER WHEEL/BRAKE ISSUE. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE TRUCK WAS ALWAYS MAINTAINED, AND AFTER THEIR INSPECTION, THEY FIND NOTHING. THIS WAS MARCH, 2010. EXPERIENCED SAME VIBRATION INTERMITTENTLY THROUGHOUT SUMMER OF 2010. VIBRATION BECAME A COMMON OCCURRENCE. AT TIMES IT FEELS AS THOUGH I WAS DRIVING ON THE RIM. IN NOVEMBER, 2010, BROUGHT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR SAME COMPLAINT. THEY FIND FRONT AXLE SHAFT REQUIRING REPLACEMENT, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. ALSO FOUND WAS FRONT HUB AND BEARING REQUIRING REPLACEMENT, WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS FAILURE APPEARS TO BE THE SUBJECT OF 2006 MODEL YEAR RECALLS.

THE FIRST REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE OCCURRED AT 19,964 MILES IN MIDDLE OF MARCH 2010. REPAIRS WERE MADE UNDER WARRANTY. NINE MONTHS LATER THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILS AGAIN AT 25,165 MILES IN MIDDLE OF DECEMBER 2010. THIS TIME THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP AND THE DRIVE SHAFT SNAPPED OFF AT THE REAR AXLE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT ALTHOUGH THE FIRST REPAIR WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY THE SECOND WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH TIME AND MILEAGE DID NOT EXCEED 12 MONTH 12,000MI ON THE REPAIR. I WAS AT HIS MERCY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. SO I PAID $3,000 OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS JANUARY THE 2ND, 2011 AND THE REAR END IS MAKING THAT WHINING SOUND IT USUALLY MAKES BEFORE IT DISINTEGRATES. I WILL BE VISITING THE DEALER ON MY NEXT DAY OFF FROM WORK.

NOT A MONTH LATER TOOK BACK FOR AC PROBLEM AND TRANNY STILL WAS NOT RIGHT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE AC COMPONENTS UNDER DASH IT HAD COLLAPSED, $1800 WORTH OF PARTS. THEY COULD FIND ANYTHING ON TRANNY. I HAVE NOW HAD MY TRUCK A YEAR. THIS MONTH HAD TO HAVE FRONT SHOCKS REPLACED THEY LEAKED ALL OIL OUT AND FRONT BEARING REPLACED ON PASSENGER SIDE. $1000 LATER FRONT END IS STILL MAKING NOISE AND RIDES ROUGHER THAN BEFORE. THE TRANNY IS STILL GIVING PROBLEMS. NOW THE REAREND IS ALSO MAKING WHINING NOISE. THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS OUT OF A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. I TRAVEL FOR A LIVING SO I HAVE PUT MANY MILES ON MANY VEHICLES. I NOTICE THE 06 MODELS HAVING RECALLS FOR BEARINGS AND BRAKE SYSTEM BUT NOTHING FOR 07. DIDN'T KNOW IF MAYBE MY TRUCK WAS MADE IN THE EARLIER PART OF THE YEAR SO IT MIGHT POSSIBLY HAVE THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY DROP OUT OF FORWARD GEAR. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE IN THE DRIVE POSITION, HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 30 MPH. HE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. HE HAS BEEN IN NEAR CRASHES DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY TEN TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,731 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.

WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 65MPH, MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF THE VEHICLE. I WAS INVOLVED IN A SOLO SPINOUT, ACCIDENT DUE TO THE WHEEL COMING OFF. THE CAUSE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE LOWER A-ARM OF THE SUSPENSION FAILING, AND LETTING THE BALL JOINT FALL OUT OF PLACE. WHEN THE WHEEL WAS RECOVERED FROM THE ACCIDENT, IT STILL HAD THE STABILIZERS ATTACHED, ALONG WITH THE BALL JOINT, AND VARIOUS PARTS OF THE STEERING, AND 4WD. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED ME TO HIT A GUARD RAIL AT 65MPH, AT A 45-DEGREE ANGLE. AMAZINGLY, MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT. I SUFFERED WHIPLASH DUE TO THE IMPACT. THE POINT OF IMPACT ON THE TRUCK WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE.

ALSO REPORTED PROBLEMS WHERE IT DID NOT SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR ON COLD START - HAD TO COAST FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET THEN HARD SHIFT. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE. AT 40,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT AFTER LOUD CLUNK AND THEN NO POWER WHEN STARTING OUT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER SAID UNTIL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. WHEN HE SHIFTS THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, THE TRANSMISSION AUTOMATICALLY DEFAULTS TO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THERE IS A TSB FOR THIS DEFECT. INITIALLY, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, BUT AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PCM IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS, BUT NOT AS FREQUENTLY. ALSO, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE RPM'S ARE APPROXIMATELY 1,300 ON A HOT START AND THEN DECREASE TO 700 WITHIN 45 SECONDS. ON A COLD START, THE RPM'S ARE 1,500 RPM'S AND DECREASES TO 700 WITHIN 90-120 SECONDS. AS A RESULT OF THE HIGH IDLE RPM'S, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCES NUMEROUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD TO BE REBUILT, BUT HE BELIEVES THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE HIGH IDLING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE FOR THE REVERSE GEAR TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS LESS THAN 2,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000. UPDATED 10/27/2008. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THE TRANSMISSION SLAMMED INTO GEAR. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD GO INTO GEAR ACCORDING TO THE INDICATOR, BUT THERE WOULD BE NO RESPONSE WHEN HE APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR. UPDATED 10/27/08.

I WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A DEAD STOP. I GRADUALLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR WHEN WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS POSSIBLE, HOWEVER THE POWER OF THE MOTOR WAS TOO MUCH FOR THE BRAKES TO OVER COME. THE FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP AND I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. DURING THIS EVENT I WAS BAFFLED, IT TOOK A MINUTE TO GRASP THE FACT THAT TRUCK WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL AT APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MPH WHERE IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO CAME OUT AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THEIR SHOP. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

I PURCHASED A RAM 1500, FROM DAY ONE THERE WAS PROBLEMS THE PASSENGER DOOR STAYED AJAR DUE TO BAD SENSOR SAYS DEALERSHIP LEAVING INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AT ALL TIMES AND WOULD DING EVERYTIME I TOOK OFF FROM A STOP. THEY SAID THAT THE CLUSTER WAS BAD SO THEY REPLACED IT WITH ONE THAT READ IN KILOMETERS INSTEAD OF MPH. LATER THEY REPLACED IT WITH A CLUSTER THAT READ IN MPH. TRANSMISSION GRINDS GEARS WHEN PUT IN REVERSE AND JUMPS WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE. ALSO TRANSMISSION SLIPS TO LOWER GEARS WHEN DRIVING THROWING ME FORWARD INTO THE DASH MULTIPLE TIMES. NOTHING HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION AS OF YET ALTHOUGH THEY SAY THAT THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE IS ENGAGED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS ALLOWED TO DRIVE A 2008 DODGE RAM PICKUP AND IT DID THE SAME THING. HOWEVER, SHE STATED THAT THE 2008 VEHICLE VIBRATED INSTEAD OF SHOOK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,100.

2006 DODGE RAM 1500 QUAD ST 3.7L V6 SFI PURCHASED ON 9/27/2006 AT ANNISTON - LINCOLN - MERCURY - DODGE IN OXFORD, ALABAMA. THE TRUCK HAD VERY SERIOUS MECHANICAL PROBLEMS, THE ENGINE WILL JUST STOP WITH A LOUD NOISE, AND WITH A SLIP IN THE DRIVETRAIN, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET OR WILL JUST DIE AT ANY GIVEN TIME DURING DRIVING. SUCH AS PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC, STOPPING AT A LIGHT, DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AS IT WILL DIE AT RANDOM, BUT MAY GO TWO OR THREE DAYS WITHOUT A PROBLEM. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT AS THEY SAY THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT, EVEN THOUGH A CHIP IN THE ENGINE INDICATED A PROBLEM BUT DID NOT RETAIN THE MECHANICAL INFORMATION. I DIDN'T ARGUE WITH THEM OR GET UPSET BECAUSE I KNOW THAT IS POINTLESS WHEN DEALING WITH I HAVE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WONT FIX IT, THEY SAY THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. I DIDN'T ARGUE WITH THEM OR GET UPSET BECAUSE I KNOW THAT IS POINTLESS WHEN DEALING WITH BUREAUCRACY. I DISCUSSED THIS WITH A REPRESENTATIVE AT DODGE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE WHO DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE LESS ABOUT MY PROBLEM AS SHE STATED THAT DODGE STANDS BEHIND THE DEALER. (NOT THE PRODUCT) , WHICH LEFT ME SPEECHLESS, I REALLY CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT DODGE HAS SOLD US A 30,000 DOLLAR+ VEHICLE AND WITHIN 6 MONTHS IT IS DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AT RANDOM, THE DEALER WON'T FIX IT AND DODGE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE STANDS BEHIND THE DEALER, WITHOUT A THOUGHT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE,THE CUSTOMER OR THE PRODUCT. BUT BEYOND THE INCREDIBLE ABUSE I HAVE SUFFERED FROM THIS COMPANY'S UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICE, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS WE CONTINUE TO CARRY OUR FAMILY OF VERY YOUNG CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE, WITH OUR FAMILY IN DANGER OF BEING INJURED OR KILLED IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT IS LIABLE TO DIE IN THE ROAD/HIGHWAY AT ANY TIME, WITH THE DEALER REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM, AND TO THIS POINT THE COMPANY REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT OR CUSTOMER.
