TOOK CAR TO LOCAL FORD DEALER, WITH AN APPOINTMENT, FOR RECALL 14R02. CELLA FORD, NEW BERN, NC. THEY HAD CAR A WEEK. DID NOTHING, BUT TOLD ME THE CAR WAS FIXED.

PERSISTENT SMELL AND LEAKING TRANSFER CASE THAT SPREAD THROUGHOUT UNDER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER MY DRIVEWAY. VERIFIED THROUGH FORD DEALERSHIP: PTU FLUID LEAKING FROM THE INPUT SHAFT SEAL AND FROM UPPER VENT PORT. FLUID SAMPLE DIRTY/GRITTY WITH METAL. COSTLY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT CHARGE OF PTU ASSEMBLY, CLOSE TO $1500. I'M PUTTING IN THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. PLEASE CONSIDER INVESTIGATING, AND IF THIS HAPPENED TO SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE PUT IN YOUR COMPLAINT SO IT WILL GO TO INVESTIGATION, THANK YOU!

6/22/2016 - SPRING, TX
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND VIBRATED VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RECURRED A FEW MOMENTS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT CERTAIN ENGINE CYLINDERS MISFIRED AND MULTIPLE ENGINE COILS OVERHEATED. THERE WERE NO FLAMES VISIBLE. AS A RESULT, THE ENTIRE POWER TRAIN CIRCUIT BOARD HAD BURNED OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
