FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY

6/9/2014 - NORTH BROOKFIED, MA
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED THAT BOTH OF THE FUEL TANK SKID GUARD BRACKETS WERE PARTIALLY DETACHED. THE CONTACT TEMPORARILY SECURED THE BRACKETS WITH A ROPE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND WSC WARNING LIGHTS WERE VISIBLE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VACUUM SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

ACTIVATED BOTH VVT SYSTEMS & CHECKED OPERATION OF BOTH VVT. ALL WORKING FINE AT THIS TIME. ALL FOUR OIL CONTROL VALVES TEST WORKING FINE AT THIS TIME.CHECKED OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER TEST WORKING FINE AT THIS TIME. IF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN AFTER THAT, THEN NEED TO REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING GEARS INSIDE ENGINE. HAS TOYOTA ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM? ARE THERE ANY RECALLS?

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ABS WARNING LAMP, STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LAMP, BRAKE WARNING LAMP, AND THE ENGINE WARNING LAMP WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 154,930.
