GAS GAUGE SUDDENLY DOESN'T REGISTER CORRECTLY. ONLY SHOWS APPROXIMATE THREE QUARTERS TANK WHEN TANK IS FULLY FILLED. WHEN REGISTERING ONE QUARTER TANK ONLY TAKES $15- TO $16 TO REFUEL. REPAIR SHOPS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE. WHAT CAN BE THE CAUSE.

MY VEHICLE SIMPLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, TWICE. AFTER A SMALL COOL DOWN PERIOD, THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AGAIN AND SEEMED FINE TILL A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY. ACCORDING TO FORD, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH A FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE FUEL PUMP. IT OVERHEATS AND FAILS CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO STOP WORKING. THEY ALSO HAVE A $20 KIT TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS SO COMMON. WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL IS BEYOND ME. MY WIFE AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE.

VEHICLE ONLY HAS 4,000 MILES. COMPLETE FUEL LINE FAILED ACCORDING TO DEALER AND WAS DRIPPING GASOLINE ON EXHAUST FROM ENGINE TO TANK. IT WAS SMOLDERING AND ALMOST IGNITED OVER THE WEEKEND. FIRST NOTICED STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN CAB. INSPECTION STATION NOTICED LEAK AND WAS TOWED TO DEALER. THEY ARE SPECIAL ORDERING PARTS. WHILE PASSING A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE THE THROTTLE STUCK AND ALTHOUGH NO PRESSURE WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL, IT KEPT ACCELERATING. BY HEAVY USE OF THE BRAKE, I WAS ABLE TO RETURN TO TOWN, WHERE I SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN. IT IS STILL LOCKED ON, AS WHEN I START IT, THE RPM'S JUMP TO 4000 IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND REQUESTED A TOW. THIS WAS FRIGHTENING, AS I HAD MY GRANDSON IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME.

THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES. THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN SLOWING DOWN DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP INSIDE THE FUEL TANK GETTING BENT UPWARD DUE TO THE TANK COLLAPSING ON ITSELF BECAUSE IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO VENT PROPERLY. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP BUT IT ONLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN BENT AS WELL OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE GAS GAUGE READS IMPROPERLY AS WELL DUE TO THE PUMP NOT REACHING THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK. I CAN ONLY FIT ABOUT 17 GALLONS INTO A 30 GALLON TANK UPON REFILLING. THE STALLING THAT THIS CAUSES HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE HAD ACCIDENTS. FORD REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITHOUT CHARGING. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED AND THAT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO REPAIR. PLEASE REQUIRE FORD TO RECALL AND FIX THIS DESIGN FLAW BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE IS KILLED OR INJURED.

SLOWING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE ENGINE FELL DEAD. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC BEFORE IT FELL DEAD AGAIN. NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER I FILL UP, THE ENGINE WAS HARD TO START. IT SPUTTERED AND STALLED AND FINALLY STARTED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND COULD CAUSE CRASHES IF NOT REPAIRED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE+S FLOOR WAS DAMP AND THERE WAS AN ODOR INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT WATER WAS SEEPING INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AND COLLECTING UNDERNEATH THE REAR SEAT CARPETS. THE DEALER REMOVED THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT AND REPLACED THE SEAL AND LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V049000 (STRUCTURE) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE REOCCURRED TWO YEARS AFTER THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER INTERIOR DOOR LATCH SPRING FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THE FUEL CAP FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE FOR ALL FAILURES WAS 40,000.

I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO FORD AND IT HAPPENS WHEN I,M PULLING IN TO PARK OR BACKING UP IN A SPACE TO PARK, THE TRUCKS ENGINE STARTS TO SHAKE AND THAN STALL, WHEN FORD PUT THE THING TO ATTACH UNDER YOUR STEERING WHEEL IT DID NOT SHOW ON THE SCREEN, I HAD A PRIVATE MECH. DO THE SAME THING AND HE COULD NOT FIND IT EITHER. I DO THINK THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE MY TRUCK HAS ALSO GONE DEAD IN THE ROAD WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE AND STALL...NOW IT IS HAPPENING A LOT , I TALK TO THE FORD DEALER A STATES THAT IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY . THE PROBLEM STARTED EVEN WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS STILL GOOD ON THE TRUCK.

I WAS PULLING MY BOAT, WHEN COMING TO A STOP, TO PARK THE TRUCK, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE KEY TO STOP IT. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE AROUND TO BLOCK AND COME BACK TO MAKE ANOTHER STOP AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I AGAIN TURNED OFF THE KEY. I LET THE TRUCK SET FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND RESTARTED IT WITH NO OTHER INCIDENTS. I AM VERY AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEM.

NO PROBLEMS UNTIL ABOUT 60,000 MILES. THEN ONE DAY, WHILE STOPPED, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DIED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD INDICATED A QUARTER TANK WHEN THE TANK WAS ACTUALLY FULL. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AT THE SAME TIME. I HAD TWO OXYGEN SENSORS REPLACED (ABOUT $400) TO CLEAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED (ABOUT $700) ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CURE THE GAS GAUGE PROBLEM. WHILE TURNING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE HAS DIED AND WAS HARD TO STEER. ONCOMING CARS HAD TO BRAKE RAPIDLY AS I HAVE HAD A HARD TIME STEERING WITH NO POWER. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE TRUCK DIES OR RUNS VERY ROUGH AND NEARLY STALLS ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT MORE THAN A MILE OR SO. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE CODE AND THE DEALER STATED IT COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR EVALUATION. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WOULD FIX THIS ISSUE IF IT COULD BE IDENTIFIED.
