AIR BAGS

9/15/2014 - COLUMBIA, SC
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN APPLYING FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT CONSTANTLY SAW THE SENSOR FOR THE ABS ILLUMINATE AND THE AIR BAG IS OFF LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT INIDICATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH, FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR HAD THE BODY DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, HOWEVER THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECURR WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE AIR BAG SENSOR SHOWED OFF WHEN THE CRASH OCCURED. THE CONTACT WAS LATER NOTIFIED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ) AND WAS WAITING FOR PARTS TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THE PARTS AND APPROVAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO REMEDY THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BY ONE DEALER AND ANOTHER DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE WITHOUT PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN APPLYING FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.
