THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT DID NOT REMEMBER WHEN SHE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTER. THE LOCAL DEAL AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

7/13/2017 - MATTAPAN, MA
I HAVE A 2010 DODGE AVENGER WHICH I PURCHASE IN APRIL OF 2015. AND IN 2015 I HAD TO PUT IT IN THE SHOP TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY BECAUSE I WAS LOSING ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING. HERE WE ARE 1.5 YEARS LATER AND I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC THAT WAS WORKING ON MY CAR, AFTER 2 UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT, THEY CONTACT A DODGE DEALERSHIP, WHICH STATED THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING MY CAR FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE INDICATOR LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH. I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH. OR IF I AM STOPPED, THE CAR JERKS FORWARD WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.

ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN ON THE DRIVER FRONT DOOR AND THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, THE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. THOUGHT THE GLASS HAD BROKEN. WENT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE GLASS WAS NOT BROKEN, THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD BROKEN. HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF MY DOOR.

AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AT AN UNKNOWN RATE OF SPEED. ALL OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND ADJUSTOR WERE AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS). THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INTERIM RECALL NOTICE, BUT THE PARTS HAD NOT BEEN SUPPLIED TO THE DEALER FOR OVER ONE YEAR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE.
