POWER TRAIN

10/30/2014 - EAST NORTHPORT, NY
WE PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A PRIMARY ROAD AND AS SOON AS WE STEPPED ON THE GAS A LOUD SOUND OCCURRED. WE THOUGHT WE WERE HIT FROM BEHIND. THEN ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND WE COULD NOT GO OVER 15MPH. WE PULLED INTO THE NEXT PARKING LOT. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED FOR 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO COOL. WE STARTED IT AGAIN AND TRIED TO DRIVE BUT COULD NOT GO OVER 15 MPH. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER AND 4 DAYS LATER I WAS CALLED THE SERVICE TECH SAID IT WAS THE PCM AND IT WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER THE PCM WAS REPLACED THEY CALLED AGAIN AND SAID THE CAR IS STILL NOT RUNNING AND THEY TESTED IT WITH A CARAVAN TIPM AND IT IS A TIPM PROBLEM AND I NEEDED TO PAY FOR THAT REPAIR. THE TIPM WAS WORKING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEN AFTER THEY TRIED TO REPAIR IT THEY SAID THE TIPM WAS NOT WORKING. MY CAR WAS IN SERVICE FOR 30 DAYS. I GOT CALLS THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER, NO IT CAME IN, NOT IT WAS FOR ANOTHER CAR, IT IS ON BACKORDER AND CORPORATE WAS IN ON IT ALSO BECAUSE I PLACED OVER 62 CALLS TO THE DEALER AND CORPORATE AND ONLY RECEIVED 6 CALLS FROM DODGE. NOW THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE TIPM. BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDES NUMEROUS DEALER SERVICE VISITS COMPLAINING OF NON-STARTING AND STALLING. ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.

FIRST OUR BRAKES WERE GRINDING AND HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS AND BRAKES, NEXT THE OIL PAN LEAKED, NEXT FULL BATTERY REPLACEMENT AND NOW OVERRATED ENGINE AND COOLANT POURING OUT THE BOTTOM!!! NO ONE WILL HELP US THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED. I HAVE TO SMALL CHILDREN THAT DEPEND ON ME HAVING A CAR. DODGE SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!

DURING THE FIVE-YEAR OWNERSHIP, THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN CAUSING SAFETY PROBLEM MANY TIMES, THE ISSUE IS SUDDEN LOST OF ELECTRIC POWER FOR TURNING SIGNAL, WIPER MOTOR POWER, RADIO AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHT, EXCEPT THE ENGINE RUNNING. THE FIRST TIME OF SUCH INCIDENT HAPPENED WITHIN 1 YEAR OF OWNERSHIP WHILE WE WERE AT TURNING SIGNAL, THE VEHICLE LOST TURNING SIGNAL CAUSED CONFUSION TO THE VEHICLE BEHIND AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AND SINCE THEN EVERY FEW MONTHS OR SO THIS INCIDENT HAPPENS, THE DEALER DID MULTIPLE REPAIR TO IT, BUT NEVER REALLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I RECENTLY EXPERIENCED TWICE OF SUCH INCIDENTS, ONE WAS DURING RAINING DAY AND THE WIPER LOST POWER I COULD NOT SEE AHEAD AND HAD TO STOP ON ROAD, THE MOST RESENT WAS YESTERDAY I LOST VENTILATION TO THE WINDOW AND COULD NOT SEE THROUGH THE WINDOW DUE TO MOISTURE ON WINDOW. I VIDEO TAPED THESE TWO INCIDENTS AND WOULD LIKE TO FORWARD TO YOU IF I CAN FIND A WAY TO ATTACH TO THIS COMPLAIN LETTER. TL-THE CONTACT 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED THE CONTACT MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRACTION CONTROL FEATURE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON WITHOUT COMMAND AND IT AUTO TURN OFF. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED NUMEROUS OF TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER MECHANIC THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. LB

WHEN ENGINE DID RESTART CAR RAN NORMAL FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES FROM 6/13 TO 10/14. DEALER CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. IGNITION IS NOT ON RECALL LIST FOR THIS PARTICULAR VIN. I HAD DEALER REPLACE IGNITION ON 10/14 AND HAD TO PURCHASE TWO ADDITIONAL KEYS BECAUSE THE OLD KEYS COULD NOT BE PROGRAMMED TO THE NEW IGNITION SWITCH.
