9/17/2014 - FIVE POINTS, AL
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE 5TH AND 6TH GEAR SLIPPED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. SR

ONCE THE CAR WAS STARTED A MESSAGE CAME ON STATING POWER STEERING NEEDS SERVICE AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. ALSO A MESSAGE ABOUT SOMETHING TRAC APPEARED AS WELL. DEALER STATES THE STEERING RACK MUST BE REPLACED AT $1800 DOLLARS.

I'M EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE POWER STEERING FAILURE THAT JUST OCCURED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AND IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TAKING MY DAUGHTER OUT TO DRIVE FOR HER FIRST TIME AND HAD THIS FAILURE OCCURED WHILE SHE WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL I'M NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. LUCKILY IT WAS ME BEHIND THE WHEEL FIRST OTHERWISE THIS COULD HAVE ENDED TRAGICALLY. THIS ALSO APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT A NUMBER OF OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED AND A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM IN OTHER MODELS THAT FORD HAS ALREADY RECALLED. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED.

TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE ON THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REQUIRED AS THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT RESIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. JB

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

9/11/2014 - MT. PROSPECT, IL
ON 8/15/14 CAR SPUTTERED WHILE DRIVING AT 30-35 MPH AND SLOWED TO A STOP. WOULD NOT RE-START IMMEDIATELY BUT EVENTUALLY DID AFTER 10 MINUTES. IT THEN SPUTTERED AND STOPPED A COUPLE TIMES WITHIN A MILE OR TWO. THE AUTO MECHANIC DID NOT FIND ANY BAD COMPUTER CODES. HE DID CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED THE AIR FILTER. THE CAR RAN WELL WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM FOR 3 WEEKS AND 1,100 MILES. ON 9/11/14 THE CAR AGAIN SPUTTERED AND SLOWED TO A STOP. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO RE-START IT. THE AUTO MECHANIC AGAIN FOUND NO BAD COMPUTER CODES. HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE CAUSE. WEB SEARCH REVEALED MANY OTHER DRIVERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES WITH 2010 FORD FUSSION FUEL SYSTEM. DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS CONDITION.

9/11/2014 - BEAVERTON, OR
INTERIOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN. NORMAL PRESSURE WAS BEING APPLIED TO HANDLE WHEN THE BREAK OCCURRED. ABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM EXTERIOR HANDLE IF WINDOW CAN BE ROLLED DOWN. THIS CAUSES GREAT CONCERN IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY AND UNABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE. PART IS MADE OF A LOW GRADE BRITTLE PLASTIC, REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE OF THE SAME BRITTLE PLASTIC MATERIAL. SAME PART AS USED ON THE 2006 FUSION TO THE 2012 FUSION, WHICH ALL HAVE THIS FAILURE OF THE COMPONENT WHICH IS A GENUINE SAFETY CONCERN.

THIS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING AT LIGHTFROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED THEN HESITATED THE A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. ATT HAT POINT THE CAR WAS IN "LIMP HOME MODE" THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR INSIDE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS THE PROBLEM. CONTACTED FORD AND MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM WHICH EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON OVER 1 MILLION FOR VEHICLES. I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO EXTEND THIS "CSP" TO A LARGER RANGE OF VIN NUMBERS AND ASSEMBLY PLANTS.
