3/7/2017 - GENEVA, AL
POWER STEERING!!!! ON 03/07/17 MY STEERING WENT OUT. CAR VEERED OFF INTO ONCOMING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND NEARLY MISSED A HEAD ON COLLISION!! NO WARNING MESSAGE OR SIGNAL OF ANY KIND. DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING. DROVE HOME AND DISCONNECTED BATTERY FOR AN HOUR AND STEERING WORKED AGAIN. LEFT OUT OF MY DRIVE AND AS I STARTED TO TURN UNTO ROAD THE STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME, I HIT MY PROPERTY FENCE AND NOW HAVE A FRONT BUMPER THAT IS SMASHED!!! "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE DISPLAYED FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK SYSTEM". LOOKED ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BY FORD AS THEY RECALLED THE 2011 AND 2012 MILANS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME COMPONENTS! THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD IN 2015 FOR THIS VERY SAME COMPLAINT. BOTH NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO STEP UP AND RECOGNIZE THE 2010 HAS THE SAME SAFETY HAZARD AND ITS OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE SAME RECALL (#15V340000) THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS. PLEASE PLEASE LETS ALL START A SECOND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR US 2010 MERCURY MILAN OWNERS THAT ARE BEING SCREWED BY BIG CORPORATE HEADS AND TRUST THAT THEY WILL BE PAYING TO FIX MY STEERING AND MY FRONT BUMPER AND THEY SHOULD BE GLAD IT'S NOT MY LIFE THEY COULD BE PAYING FOR FROM THE FIRST TIME I NEARLY ESCAPED A HEADON COLLISION.

3/7/2017 - SPENCERPORT, NY
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM CONCERNING THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN FROM THE MANUFACTURER WOULD PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

3/3/2017 - HUDSONVILLE, MI
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PURGE VALVE WAS FAULTY AND WOULD ERRONEOUSLY REMAIN OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM) IN APRIL OF 2016, BUT WAS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

ON 2/1/17, STEERING WENT OUT. ALMOST HIT CO-WORKER'S PARKED CAR. NO WARNING MESSAGE OR SIGNAL OF ANY KIND. DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED. TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON. OPERATED WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON 2/3/17, STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME, "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE DISPLAYED FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK SYSTEM". TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON. OPERATED WELL ENOUGH TO DRIVE TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW RACK AND PINION ($2,800). LOOKED ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BY FORD AS THEY RECALLED THE 2011 AND 2012 MILANS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME COMPONENTS! THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD IN 2015 FOR THIS VERY SAME COMPLAINT. BOTH NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO STEP UP AND RECOGNIZE THE 2010 HAS THE SAME SAFETY HAZARD AND ITS OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE SAME RECALL (#15V340000) THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS.

2/3/2017 - BOWLING GREEN, KY
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE "POWER STEERING" AND "SERVICE ADVANCE TRACKING SYSTEM SOON" WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN ADDITION, WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL VEERED TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

ENGINE GOES TO 4000 AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHILE DRIVING AT 70 ON INTERSTATE. WON'T SHIFT UNLESS THROTTLE IS BACKED WAY OFF. AT LOW SPEED ON 2-1 DOWNSHIFT, IT BANGS INTO GEAR JERKING YOU OUT OF THE SEAT AND CAUSING POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL. ONLY DOES IT ON SLIGHT INCLINES. I PURCHASED NEW 11/3/2009 CAR ONLY HAS 24,818 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN SERVICED ONLY AT FORD DEALERS

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN WENT OUT. IT STARTED WITH A WARNING ON THE DISPLAY "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" ALONG WITH THE WARNING BELLS. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" ALONG WITH THE WARNING BELLS. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THE COST OF REPAIR IS ABOUT 2K. I AM VERY UPSET THAT THERE WAS IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ITEM BUT ONLY FOR THE 2011 MILAN THAT USED IDENTICAL PARTS.
