TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V340000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

12/1/2016 - CLOVERDALE, IN
CABLES FOR BOTH POWERED SLIDING SIDE DOORS BROKE WITHIN 2 MONTH PERIOD. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED. DRIVER DOOR CAN BE OPENED AND CLOSED MANUALLY. WROTE LETTER TO TOYOTA, AFTER GETTING ESTIMATE OF $1,600 PER DOOR TO FIX, ASKING FOR SOME SORT OF HELP. SAME PROBLEM ON OLDER MODELS WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL. UP TO 2009 MODELS. TOYOTA DECLINED ANY TYPE OF HELP. OFFERED $750 OFF NEW VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN TRANSPORTING GRANDCHILDREN.

THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
