6/19/2016 - NEW MILFORD, CT
AFTER STARTING MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INFORMATION DISPLAY WITH SYSTEM WARNINGS AND ONLY ODOMETER DISPLAY WENT BLANK. TECHNICIANS CHECKED FOR A BAD FUSE, BUT NONE FOUND. ALSO, FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL (15C03 - REPROGRAM INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) ISSUED AGAINST 2014 FORD ESCAPE FOR THE SAME ISSUE.

6/15/2016 - CHARLOTTE, NC
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRES IN THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE RE-SPLICED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH BROKE, DOOR WILL NOT SHUT. FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. DESPITE THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER FORD MODELS, DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO GET FORD TO WARRANTY THIS. COST ME $340.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER SERVICED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.

TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FLUNG OPEN AND DID NOT CLOSE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A LOCAL DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MEANWHILE, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 14V597000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH 26000 MILES, OEM TIRE ARE CONTINENTAL CONTITAC PRO 235/50/18 H.THE TIRE HAVE PREMATURE FAILURE WITH CHUNCKS OF RUBBER VISIBLY DETACHED FROM THE TREAD BASE. I HAVE CONTACTED CONTINENTAL REQUESTING AN ADJUSTMENT, THEIR RESPONSE WAS THERE IS NO MILEAGE WARRANTY ON OEM EQUIPMENT.HOW DO I PERSUADE CONTINENTAL TO ADJUST THIS SET OF TIRE. 5/27/2016 - COLUMBUS, OH
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE OIL LIGHT FLICKERED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EMIT SMOKE FUMES FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL WELL. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, LIFTED THE HOOD, AND NOTICED FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND A FIRE INVESTIGATOR CAME TO VIEW THE SCENE. NEITHER A POLICE NOR A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THERE WERE INJURIES TO THE CONTACT'S RIGHT HAND, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,500.

5/19/2016 - ROSEMOUNT, MN
INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (HAPPENS WHEN IN PARK OR WHEN DRIVING). HOOKED UP TO CODE READER AND GOT P026B7; FOUND ONLINE THAT THE THE ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE IS DEFECTIVE, BUT NOT RECALLED (TSB 13-02-15). DEALER CONFIRMS CODE AND THAT ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BUT REFERENCED TSB 16-0052. DESPITE THE PART BEING SO DEFECTIVE IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED, REDESIGNED, AND REPLACED THE DEALER CLAIMS IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER ANY FORM OF WARRANTY.
